rondef Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 How many of you actually took this opportunity to upgrade your reels? I upgraded two of mine and I purchased the new Kevin Van Dam Signature Series baitcaster (10 bearings & ACS II) and I picked up a Bass Pro Shop Professional Seires spinning reel. Quote
joshmb1999 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 i did...traded in an old pinnacle spinning reel and got a johnny morris sig. baitcaster Quote
BigBrotherThunda Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 used it three times this weekend, two citicas and a quantum code burner Quote
Bassbilly Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I did! I had an old Quantum 5 bearing from like 1995...traded it in for a Revo SX. I bought a Revo SX about 3 months ago and I like it so much I'm thinking of building a fleet of 5 or 6 of these reels. Quote

Probably not many from this board as Shimano decided that helping less fortunate kids is not their policy and they did not take part in the event. BPS had some pretty harsh words for Shimano on the flyer that they sent out. Quote
strick9 Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I turned in an old Shimano FX spinning reel and bought a Quantum Tour Edition baitcaster. Unfortunatly they didn't have the burner model so I settled for the 6.3:1. Very nice reel!!!!!! $149 with the reel trade in and the rebate from Quantum. Quote

Throw away all of your Calcuttas and Curados in protest OR send them to me and I will discard of them for you Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted March 11, 2008 Super User Posted March 11, 2008 I got a Daiwa Tierra 2500 for the trade in. I was quite shocked to see the number of people NOT taking advantage of this. The guy in front of me at the checkout bought 2 high-end Quantum at the tune of $200+ each and didn't use a trade in. These reels had rebates available from Quantum, but he could have saved more. I thought it was especially funny since BPS was selling $5 spincasting reels out of a bin. Come in, buy a cheap baitcaster, leave, get the certificate and get yourself a new toy Quote
low_pro Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I was very close to picking up an extreme reel... so close, the guy said if I stood there any longer they were going to give me a green shirt and put me to work!! instead, I walked around for the usual two hours picking up and setting down hundreds of dollars of equipment before finally walking out with 2 spinnerbaits, a pack of skirts, and some bullet weights! just under $10 Quote

michbass Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Took advantage.. Too bad no Shimano love to get a Core. Wheres the rebate on the Core and Calais? Love to see it on the high end stuff. To bad Shimano just doesn't care about those poor kids, brings a :'( to my eyes. Just kidding. Couldn't pass up 50 off a Steez and 40 off a Zillion. Quote
BassinDave Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Traded in an old Shimano and picked up a Johnny Morris Signiture, a great reel for 105 bucks. Quote
