Guest muddy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hey Fellas: I usually shop Cabelas, I am very satisfied with them They have a huge store about a half hour away. I started to go to pick up a Fenwick HMG rod They wanted 129 plus tax and shipping the rod would have been 160 bucks!!!!!!! I have noticed they charge STATE TAX NOW????????? Gas being what it is I was trying to save money So because a lot of the more knowledgable guys here talk about TACKLE WAREHOUSE here, I went on their site, they had the rod , also at 129.00 and guess how much for shipping and Tax?? ZERO,Zip, Nada. I went through the whole cart process twice, to make sure and there it was ZIP. total price shippe 129 Thats 31 bucks in my pocket, I am going to be using these guys a littl emore . Thanks to all who have suggested this online retailer 8-) Quote
Davis Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I buy all my rods and reels from them if I can. They take great care of your rods in preparing them for shipping as well. Compared to BPS and how they ship them. Can't beat free shipping and no tax with rods. No brainer if you ask me. Quote
Shadcranker Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Yep- they are the class of the on-line tackle world. Best selection, service, and deals on the web. No disrespect intended for any UBFR advertisers here, but TW has it figured out. The free shipping and no sales tax is just a bonus IMO. Quote

My baits, rods, and reels ALWAYS ship out the same day that I order them. Quote
slomoe Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I try to only buy from TW now. The savings on shipping is the biggest selling point, plus they have fast shipping and great customer service. I had a funny transaction with BPS, so I ordered recently from Cabelas..the rod came chipped in two places. They had very good customer service, and are replacing the rod, But I just figure if I'm going to pay for shipping I should only have to wait for it once not twice. Tackle warehouse ships in very heavy duty tubes. Quote
Nwfisher Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Just put in an order with TW yesterday. I love their quick service, and great website. Quote
Pond Hopper Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 And if you have backordered items they will ship what is in stock at the time of purchase then the backordered items when they all arrive, at no extra charge! Quote
Mike-in-WV Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Thanks for the heads up Muddy! Good to know. Mike Quote
RiskKid. Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 What everyone else said....I've had nothing but excellent expeience when dealing with them. Quote

No shipping charge at TW if your order exceeds $50, which is, looking at in under the microscope a BaitMonkey spell cast at you cuz, let 's get real, when was the last time you spent under 50 dollars in tackle ordering on-line ? Quote
Super User David P Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Being that they're located in California, that's where I order ALL of my stuff from. Takes 2 days to get to me, and free shipping over $50 you can't beat it. Unfortunately, living in California, means I have to pay tax, but I still save on the shipping! Not to mention, $10 sweatshirts and free shirts, can't beat that! Quote
dave Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I believe that with internet shopping, tax is paid when the company is in the state in which you live. Hence, muddy paid tax in PA and brokejaw paid tax in CA. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Generally you only pay sales tax if you are "in state". Quote
Guest muddy Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Cabelas ships from Minn and I live in PA!!!!!!!! Quote
Davis Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Cabelas ships from Minn and I live in PA!!!!!!!! Weird Muddy. I live in NY and all my packages come from PA when I order from there. Never been charged tax either. Are you getting screwed lol. Quote
michbass Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Had nothing but good experiences with them here also. They have some good deals sometimes. Always pays to shop around and get the most for your money. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 7, 2008 Super User Posted March 7, 2008 Cabelas ships from Minn and I live in PA!!!!!!!! If they have a store in your state, you have to pay sales tax. Quote
twors Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Just remember that you should report any out of state purchases that you didn't pay taxes on your state return.....in Kansas its line 18, "Consumer Compensating Use Tax" Quote
