Bassnajr Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Hey all, I discovered Power Pro braid this year and have not tried any other brands. I would like folks here to give their opinions (pros and cons of each brand) on the different braid they have used and rate them, if you can. Thanks, ajr Quote
Bassnajr Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 P.S. Best value for the $$$$ also. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted February 29, 2008 Super User Posted February 29, 2008 Sorry, but my guide is not price dependant. best: Samurai Braid. 2nd best: Sufix Braid 3rd: best: Power Pro. Quote
ejtaylor822 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Sufix. Have been using for a couple of years now - great casting and knot strength. Haven't tried anything else - haven't seen the need. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 29, 2008 Super User Posted February 29, 2008 I have only used two, Sufix and Power Pro. I like them both equally well Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 1, 2008 Super User Posted March 1, 2008 Sufix. Have been using for a couple of years now - great casting and knot strength. Haven't tried anything else - haven't seen the need. Same here, except substitute Power Pro for Sufix. PP does what I want my braid to do. If it ain't broke... Quote
Branuss04 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Sufix. Have been using for a couple of years now - great casting and knot strength. Haven't tried anything else - haven't seen the need. +1. I have tried Spiderwire out of desperation, but there is NO comparision. Sufix has never failed me... so why try something new. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted March 1, 2008 Super User Posted March 1, 2008 Power Pro. Buy it in bulk and it's not so expensive. Amazing line. I am down to 3 lines only. I have wanted to get here for years. Power Pro (braid), Yo Zuri Ultra Soft (copolymer) and Berkley Big game (mono). Life is simple again. LOL Ronnie Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 1, 2008 Super User Posted March 1, 2008 1. Power Pro 2. Sufix 3. BPS Just picked up some Spider Wire Invisibraid. This will be my experiment line for the year. At $20 for 125yards, it may be a short experiment. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted March 1, 2008 Super User Posted March 1, 2008 #1 Spiderwire Ultracast #2 everything else I switched to Spiderwie Ultracast last year after using Spiderwire Stealth, and trying Power Pro and Suffix. I don't know what every one see's in Power Pro, I didn't like it at all. Quote
strick9 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Power Pro or P-Line braid on baitcasters and Stren Superbraid on spinning reels because it's a little softer and just seems to handle better on spinning gear. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 2, 2008 Super User Posted March 2, 2008 POWER PRO I switched from fireline 6 years ago and haven't looked back. I have it on at least a dozen reels. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 2, 2008 Super User Posted March 2, 2008 I have three differant lines I buy when one of them is on sale. Needless to say , I like all three. SUFIX , POWER PRO , AND STREN SUPER BRAID. The sufix has a 6-10.00 rebate going now. So I'll be off to buy some soon. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted March 2, 2008 Super User Posted March 2, 2008 Sorry, but my guide is not price dependant.best: Samurai Braid. 2nd best: Sufix Braid 3rd: best: Power %100 agree Quote
Fish Chris Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 TUF-Line XP and TUF-Plus I used to use Spiderwire. It worked okay, but is WAY overpriced. I tried a whole bunch of other brands between Spiderwire and TUF-Line, and I think they were ALL night and day better than any monofilament on the planet, but I settled on TUF-Line for the best line at the best price..... and then they started sponsoring me a few years later. So now I get the best line, at the "really" best price... free dollars and 0 cents ;-) I can't believe nobody has said anything about that "fused" garbage ! Come on you guys ! That stuff makes awesome dental floss ! :-) My buddies and I like to call it "Fired Line" :-) LOL Peace, Fish Quote
Joel W Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Sorry, but my guide is not price dependant.best: Samurai Braid. 2nd best: Sufix Braid 3rd: best: Power You hit it right on the head. Unfortunately, I really can't justify shelling out the big bucks for Samurai, so I'll stick with Power Pro which is a 4 strand line or Sufix Braid which is a 6 strand line. The extra two strands makes the Sufix more rounder, while the PP is more of a oval. I've been using PP for years on my baitcasters. Going to respool a few with Sufix that really need respooling. shimanogloomis man Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 1 suffix 2 p line spectra 3 power pro Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 1. Fireline close 2nd. Stren Super Braid ABSOLUTE LAST!!!! any kind of spiderwire Quote
sodaksker Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 Of the ones I have used: 1. Sufix 2. Stren 3. Power-less Pro 4. Fireline (kink break) Quote
snyper77 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Why am I not seeing people talk about Stren Superbraid? I switched from Fireline to Superbraid and it's so much better. Have not tried anything else though. I priced Power Pro braid and Superbraid last night at walmart: Power pro 30# 150 yrds = $14 Stren superbraid 30# 125 yrds = $16 Is this why people are choosing PPRO? More line, for less $? Quote
Josey Wales Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 what the heck is Samurai braid, and where can you get it... In my experience you get what you pay for. Quote
fooman Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Sufix has a rebate right now http://www.sufix.com/FishingLine/USA/images/E2.jpg Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Lol, "fired line" and "powerless pro" How about Suck-fix? By the way, I use Power Pro and will experiment with Suffix this year. Quote
TeamBerettaGold Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 1. Sufix 2. PPRO 3. Fireline I love sufix braid. Spinning or casting great stuff. I have used Powerpro on baitcasting gear and liked it for a little bit, but when you use it a lot, you seem to get those mysterious "bite off's" where you don't even set the hook, but your line snaps. Anyone else have this? I go through way to much powerpro, even after turning it on the spool. Fireline I would only use on a spinning rod, in a small diameter. I may use mono if I am casting cranks or other treble hook baits later in the season, otherwise 100% braid, to many toothy critters around here! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I don't use braid at home much but that's all we throw when I visit Redline. I think there is suffix on the majority of his set ups and I had ZERO issues with line on both trips out there. Keep in mind, I'm not the most proficient baitcaster either. Not much experience and nothing to compare to but fully impressed with it and I'm going to give it a go on a jig rod this summer. Quote
