I am going to BPS tonight to get some of the Trilene Pro Fluoro.  I was going to get 10# for the extra strength since 10# Fluoro should be as undetectable as 8# but I wanted to get some input here 1st before i go ahead with it.

Well, I will be interested to hear how it works out. Fluorocarbon tends to be wirey and doesn't work for me on spinning tackle even in smaller diameters. Start with the 8 lb line to see if it's manageable.

8-)

I use Flouro 8 & 10 on spinning. Be very sure to not over spool and spool up 4-5 days before fishing.

If I'm changing line I do it on Mon. for that weekend.

I have been reading up on line lately and just because it says that it breaks at 8 pounds or 10 pounds doesn't mean it does. Bass and Walleye Boat magazine did an article with line strengths and such and some 10 pound lines break at up to and over 18 pounds. Line strength is usually under estimated rather than over estimated. Trilene is one of those companies. After reading this I would be more concerned about diameter and how it acts on your reel. So I would go with the 8 personally.

Not sure, but you could. I know they did it with some fluoro's and the results were the same, they all break above the number on the box.

Whatever the lb test for fluoro make sure to spray it with Real Magic or KVD conditioner to make it more manageable.

i use seguar invizx 10 pound on a 4000 size reel.the bigger spool helps with line issues.also put the line in hot water and spool it on.let it dry and next day tie it to a tree and back it off.reel it in and spray it with kvd line and lure.let dry a few hours.with invizx this eliminates any line issues.trilene pro grade is supposed to be good too so u may get similar results.

When people so often ask such broad questions that its really hard to answer, it just strikes me funny that you should ask 8# or 10#  fluorocarbon ? :-)

Uuuuh..... well... I think 8# is too light... and 10# is too heavy... But I saw this German line manufacturer once that made like 8.7 lb test, and I think that's what you need ;-) LOL

I just don't think anything else will work :-)

Don't mind me... just being silly.

Seriously though, like Dodgeguy said > Seaguar ! That what I use for leaders with my braided line. Good stuff.

Depends on what you are using it for? The only time I have use flouro on spinning is for drifting tubes in the river which doesn't mess the line up too bad due to limited cast. Used 10# for that but might try 8# this year.  Never used it for finesse though on spinning.

Curious to see what people are thinking about the trilene though, report back.

I dont think ive ever spooled a spinning reel with flourocarbon due to what some here have commented on.  #10 or above it becomes like roadwarrior said "wirey"

Some interesting suggestions on conditioning it for a spinning reel however, that I am surely going to try this year.

Ive never used the line conditioner before...does this stuff really make that much of a difference?

How do you apply it? while you spool or afterwards? or other?

I have spooled some reels with Vanish transistion, but I dont think this counts.  And the stuff cuts like a knife.

Good luck on the Trilene flouro tho... I will be following the awnsers you get closely as well.

Good fishing.

Pline fluorocarbon is very manageable. I was using 6lb fluorocarbon, but had some breaking problems, stepped up to 8lb and no problems with breaking, and it's quite soft.

I've read where fluoro has become popular with the pros, but I honestly don't get it. In Florida, we have some of the clearest lakes in the world yet the bass don't seem to have any problems hitting 8 lb Power Pro.

I've tried fluoro leaders before, but didn't notice any difference besides the time I spent tying an extra knot.

I wish they tested it on spinning gear too.

I put the 12lb on a casting rod last night and I was very impressed with the strength, knot strength and the difference in stretch from mono.

I am a little concerned about putting it on a spinning rod but I am going to try the 10 lb on a spinning rod.  Unfortunatly I won't get to try this until next week.

I tried a spool of 8lb Trilene Professional last year and it worked just fine.  It is still fluoro, so it a somewhat stiff but much better than any other fluoro that I have tried on spinning tackle.

If I'm wrong I want to know it! Does that stuff really work better than Power Pro? Any Florida anglers using it?
