Hello, found a NIB Shimano Calcutta 201 DC reel today, priced at $299, did not buy it, but thinking real hard about it. Anyone here have/use one? Thanks in advance.

At that price I would jump all over it without thinking.

WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a very good price for that particular reel but since I've never used one or know of anyone who has one ,I cannot help you.

I'm sure some one has an opinion on the reel and will chime in to help you out.

If you can afford it, grab it. I have a TE200DC and it's an amazing reel. Just be aware that 201 means the crank handle is on the left side. JMHO

Hey Ronnie, sounds like you are sold on them, any problems with yours? I use left handed reels, thanks

No problems at all, will cast a feather into the wind. I have put a lot of miles on mine and just a drop of oil every 2 or 3 trips and it performs flawlessly. The high cost of this reel is not solely related to the digital cast control. On top of that, it is beautifully engineered and constructed. The workmanship, materials, fit and finish have to be experienced to be appreciated. Another thing to be aware of, is 5.0:1 is the only gearing. If you can afford it, you will not regret it. JMHO
