I finally gave in and decided to get a Revo.  I am for the most part a Shimano guy but after getting a chance to play with a Revo last week, I think I may have been converted.

Here's my new toy.........

Dude, you are going to love that reel....you might as well go ahead and post up all your Shimano reels for sale now so you can get some more Premiers.

When we know you can be trusted we'll teach you the Abu Garcia secret handshake. ;)

Awesome reel you'll love it.

I just bought my 8th and 9th Revo a few days ago - replacements for my Curado 200 DHSVs.   Still don't have a Premier, yet, though.  Soon...

Another addition to the Abu family. Glad to have you sir. I love the black and silver, i might have to buy me one now  ;).

The only problem I see with that reel is that the handle is on the wrong d**n side.

No no no, leave it alone....it's perfect!

That's great! Do not be a slave to one brand , you'll miss out on a lot of differant quality products if you insist on being loyal to one brand.

Hey Fishtank,

When you get ready to offload them worthless Shimanos, just let me know. I'll take em off your hands. Always wanting to help a brother out. ;):)

It's true.  Use a Revo for a day and you'll be buying another very soon.  Happened to me, I'm 3 deep so far.  Hopefully next one will be the Premier.

I took the plunge, too.  I returned the 6.4:1 STX I bought in December to BPS and bought a Premier instead.  I can't believe how light it is.  I'm going to use it on my Fenwick HMG GT66M 6'6" medium.

I have been thinking of a Fenwick rod as well.  I saw on Abu's website that there is a $50 mail in rebate if you buy a Fenwick or an AllStar rod and a Revo.  Sounds like an awesome deal.

I believe 5.4:1 gears can be bought thru ABU GARCIA customer service for those that are interested. I bought 2 sets for the S models I have.

That's right.  I sent an e-mail to Abu a few days ago asking about the "performance upgrades" section on their website that is still not completed.  I asked what they were planning on offering.  The first thing he mentioned were 5.4:1 gears that are available now for the Revo.  You can order them from Abu just like any other part.

now we may be talking. i like 5:1 for all my cranking this time of year. later on for deep cranks and spinner baits. i try to stick with the same style reels if i can so i hadnt really looked into a revo yet. how do the lower priced models work for yall?

I haven't actually fished with my Revo Ss yet, but I've been casting them and they are impressive.  You are not losing anything by buying a Revo S instead of an SX or STX.   In fact, the S may actually be a wee bit better because it seems to me the brake may be a little more effective.

I really like the S so far.

Ive been looking into the revo as of late and may take the plunge as well... You cannot ignore the 24lbs of dragforce you can put down with those things.  I have different reels and no real complaints... A Calais, quantum energy pt, and the older curados... (green)  I wont change my shimano spinning reels, but I think its time to retire the old green curado's and put that revo on a flippin stick.
