Super User FishTank Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 I picked up a few of these to replace a couple Booyah jigs that I lost last weekend. These suckers were $10 for two. Are they worth it? Compared to the Booyah jigs I usually buy, they're double the price. They look cool but do they catch fish as well as others? I wanted to give something different a try and baitmonkey said, "Here, buy this." Quote
Super User Tin Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 There pretty nice. They are made of tin , dont know if that is better or worse than tin environmentaly speaking, like the head and trailer keeper. I just dont like the lack of rattles, hook, and $5 lost if a pickeral or pike decides to give it a taste. But I have caught fish on them Quote
Super User Tin Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 I meant better than lead. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted October 10, 2007 Super User Posted October 10, 2007 I don't like that big rocker block on the bottom of it...it's been said you can miss fish dued to pulling it out of it's mouth too early. If you look around you can find them on sale from time to time. I got them for $5 per 2 pack awhile back @ BPS. Quote

Bobby Uhrig Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Hello everyone!! The traditional jig has not changed much in the last 40 years. The Evolution Jig is a very Hydrodynamically and technically designed jig.We watched for years while filming what the average jig does underwater.Just to let you know some credentials- go to www.bluewaterimages.net. Tim and I have been best friends since we were ten years old. We have had 4 cover shots on Bassmaster Mag. covers on BassWest. (22)pictures in BassMaster . Did the Yamamoto catalog and have had cover shots done for every major salt water magazine out there.Tim is the top when it comes to underwater photogrphy. Back to the jig - 99%of all of the jigs out there fall over. Their heads are not properly or their weight displacement is not properly designed. The Evolution Jig lands upright 99%of the time -its almost absolute. Even when it falls off of a rock it usually lands upright. When we filmed the bass inhaling the jig it actually stood upright in the basses mouth.Thats why the hook was set at the top of the mouth more often than the sides. While filming we also noticed that when a jig is sideways in the fishes mouth-you pull it while setting the hook and it sneaks between the lips. Put a hook sideways between your thumb and forefinger and pull. Same theory. Take an Evolution Jig -tie some line on it . Place a pencil flat on the table -pull the EVO Jig over it . Watch how the skidplate kicks the hook straight up-usually right through the fishes snout. As for the cost of the jig-You dont have to tell me. When we started this project-lead was .62 a pound-now $1.48 -tin was $3.70 and is now over $7.65 a pound. The Seaguar Fluorocarbon weedguard has one yard of fiber in it. Tell me how much a yard of Seaguar is. The Gamakatsu hook and the custom skirts are expensive. We have fishermen all over the world now using them. Once you get away from the old concept jig and gain confidence in the Evo Jig You will not want to fish any other jig.The rocking foward action also is a huge step foward in jig design. The skirt foward of the weedguard is incredible for swimming and flairing. The eye of the hook built into the head for less snags on weeds ect. Believe me this jig was very well tought out. If it wasnt-it would be just another jig.As for our Finesse Plus Jigs -I promise you -put a 4" worm on that jig and you will throw away every other shakey style head you have. There are none better Remember my quote"Evolve Or Become Extinct" www.evolutionlures.com Quote

I plan on using these jigs next weekend and I'll see how they hold up. If work as stated above, maybe I'll make the switch. Thanks for the response. It's great to have a forum like this were you can get info from the manufacture. Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 i love the evolution jigs i think by far there the best jigs out there always stand up even with a trailer, i asked this question on tackletour about this jig and a member was nice enough to give me a phone # 636 916 0242 of a local tackle shop as of now sells them for 8.99 but right now offering them at 30% off ;D 8.99 and they do ship anywhere i beleive . i bought 10 packs, so give them a call while the sale is on 636 916 0242 Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 The stand up theory is no joke. I was flipping and pitching one of these into a downed tree. I noticed when it landed on the branches, even on the thin ones, it stayed on the branch and stood up. The weedgaurd nearly disapears in the water. These jigs are awesome all around Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 These suckers were $10 for two. Are they worth it? Um, yep....They were worth it for me. These are all Evo Jig fsh from this past summer... FWIW, I would have gladly paid $5 for any one of these bass. Quote
The_Natural Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 I purchased a bunch when Bass Pro put them on sale. Great idea, and they do stand up, I just wish they were tungsten instead of tin for $10 a two-pack. I haven't fished them enough to comment on their effectiveness versus my other jigs. Quote
Bobby Uhrig Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 As for the Bass Pro deal. We will no longer be doing business with them.Believe me they had no problem moving these Jigs. We will leave it at that. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 13, 2007 Author Super User Posted October 13, 2007 I gave these a test today and they behave as adverstised but no fish yet. The paint is OK. I fished one for about 2 hours and it chipped a little. I hope to give them another try soon and have better results. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted October 14, 2007 Super User Posted October 14, 2007 , and $5 lost if a pickeral or pike decides to give it a taste. Exactly why I'll never spend that much on a jig. Lots of "gators" where I fish and it isn't uncommon to lose several jigs a day to the scoundrels. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted October 15, 2007 Author Super User Posted October 15, 2007 Still no luck with these things. I have been fishing them no differently than any other jig I use. I have been catching fish on other jigs but not this one. Any advice would be great, thanks. Quote
Super User David P Posted October 15, 2007 Super User Posted October 15, 2007 I fished them for about a month, and caught a decent amount of fish, biggest going 4lbs. They do stand up, they do have good colors, but the price and the skirt are the only down sides imo. I wish these jigs were hand tied, keeping the skirt from rotating and giving it more flair. I recently began learning to tie jigs, and For $10 for 2, I haven't purchased anymore. But they do work. Quote
