Okuma's are AWESOME!!! I have a buddy who has a baitcaster and he LOVES it!!! It's smooth as butter and casts for forever!!! I think they're THE BEST out there. Behind SHIMANO of course!!! But DEFINATLEY a good reel.

My dad and little sister like them, I had one and ... :-X

Like anything else it is personal preference.

Okuma's are great for their prices.  I have 2 reels, and 1 rod from them, love both, and didn't spend nearly as much for them as I did my Shimano, and flooger supreme!

Okuma has some pretty low-end stuff and high-end stuff.  I have used a couple of the low-end spinning reels and for the money, they were great.  One of those reels is now dead because I took it on a fishing trip in the Everglades, and while the drag worked like a dream, the reel is now shot because of the abuse.

I've heard a lot of good things about their higher-end products, but I haven't tried any yet.  I'd like to hear if anyone has good things to say about their V-System line.

I have the guide series Big Bait model for big baits and I like it.

I read not long ago within a few weeks I think. I believe it was one of the guys who fishes for big bass ( fish chris?). I think he uses Okuma's exclusively and if he is using them they must be decent. It doesn't sound like he leaves much to chance.

I wondered when someone would post that.  I think he could probably fish any brand he wanted but chose Okuma.  That speaks volumes I think about the equipment. ;)
