skeeterman24 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I wanted to try the new Trilene Flouro 17 or 20#. I was also thinking about trying yo-zuri hybrid on my flipping rod. Quote
HesterIsGod Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Since the majority of my flipping is done in heavy cover, I use heavy spiderwire braid, usually 50 pounds. I want as heavy as possible line because the bass cant see it anyway. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 timely topic, cause ive been thinking about a new line for my heavy cover fishing Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 timely topic, cause ive been thinking about a new line for my heavy cover fishing Me too! I don't really want to use braid this year (used Power Pro last year) so I am now looking for an alternative. I picked up a spool of 17 lbs. P- Line CXX.........maybe. :-/ Quote
Cajun1977 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 pline is what im using right now, and im happy with it, but i just wanna try something else just for giggles Quote
Hooked_On_Bass Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 cajun1977, what type of cover do you flip/pitch? What lbs. line are you using? What type of bait are you flippin'/pitchin'? Just curious. 8-) Quote
Cajun1977 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 weeds, brush, timber, 12 pound, and mostly jigs and trigs. let me say first off i am very happy with the way my line has produced, but i just feel like im playing on borrowed time, by not going to a braid or superline Quote
Evan Pease Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I used to use 12# and liked it just fine until I was yoyo-ing my jig over an underwater branch and a huge bass wrapped me up and broke me off. I only bumped it up to 15# and it made a huge difference. Quote
Bass XL Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 15-20 pound Yo-Zuri Hybrid... Sometimes I'll switch over to braid, but not often. Quote
alger319 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 16lb berkley vanish or 50lb suffix braid for the nasty stuff Quote
The_Natural Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 If I am truly flippin'; i.e. the nasty sh!t...dense salad or super heavy cover...I use 15lb Pline CXX. I love the Berkley Pro-Grade fluoro, but with flippin' you are going for a reaction strike as if you were fishing a crank or spinnerbait. You want the bass to make a quick decision, and you want to haul him in pronto. I don't feel fluoro will benefit you in these circumstances. Granted I don't live in Florida, but I just moved to Texas and I'm still sticking to what I've spooled for years Quote
Super User flechero Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 XT in #17, #20 (or #25 on rare occasions) depending on the locale. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 30 or 50lb Spiderwire Ultra cast braid. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 i'm really loving this stuff.20 lb.for flipping. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 28, 2008 Super User Posted February 28, 2008 Truly flipping in the thick stuff I use 50 lb. Sufix Braid. You better hope you don't get hung up. You'll never break it without help like a cut off piece of broom handle. Quote
trailboss502 Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 pline is what im using right now, and im happy with it, but i just wanna try something else just for giggles i was just about to go buy some 12lb. i know its good for flippin/pitching cover but how did you like it as far as fishing with a crankbait through grass/weeds/crankin it along the bottom Quote
skeeterman24 Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 I have decided on 20lb hybrid. I had 17lb vanish last year but it had to much memory. Quote
ba7ss3in Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 20lb Suffix and 65lb Power Pro braid Quote
