I have several Revos and just recently got a Promax and love it.  That thing is great so far, time will tell if it holds up to the Abu name (which takes about five years of use to be a real Abu)

I have a Black Max, Silver Max, and Pro Max, and like all three. They are great reels for the money. I have had Revos and liked them, but they were a little small. Looking at the Revo and Max side by side, I can't tell much difference. But in my hands the Max reels are larger, which is more comfortable to me.

The Black Max is a great reel, but I would save up a few more pennies and get the Pro Max.

I noticed a feature called a twitching bar. what is it for?

I went to dick's and looked at the abu combo's and they seem nice.

I really need a baitcast reel and a new spinning rod.

Side note is a cardinal 104 worth getting fixed?

Must have overlooked this one recently. Anyhow, off-topic and referenced posts have been deleted. Muddy's was left up just because it strikes me as funny!

Let's stay on-topic, please.

As I have mentioned before I love both of my Abu Garcia reels and this new for 2008 Max series is really great! I just ordered an extra spool for my Silver Max this morning so I can just switch spools when I want to go from #17 test to #12 test. ;)

Customer service at this company is absolutely terrific. Polite people who will bend over backward to help the customers with any problems you may have, Mike

I own the black max left hand, ran over it with my trailer tire and still fishes well. For about 50 bucks, you can't beat this reel.

Thats a great Testamit to these reels. I had my Silver Max apart and it's well built on the inside too. Really a nice looking and smooth operating reel.  ;)
