Super User burleytog Posted February 26, 2008 Super User Posted February 26, 2008 Shimano Cumara? Very light, sensitive, $175-200, lifetime warranty. It's a $300 rod for $200 (or less )
mattm Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 As far as opinions go..............thats a pretty bold one, but typical from young guys who just bought the "latest and greatest", and want to be an authority on something. I don't know who to go with the typical young guy. Or the typical old guy who doesn't want to try anything new . Bottom line is that all the rods mentioned are great. However, I don't think any of the ones mentioned are cheaper than the carrot stick. Also i'm still waiting for a post from someone that says they have fished a carrot stick and hated it.
bronzeback01 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I just bought a kistler magnesium i really like the way the rod feels but i haven't fished it yet , it's my only rod thats not a g loomis . one of my favorite rods is my loomis SJR 782 IMX it's a 6'6" med action extremely light and sensitive. another rod that i just picked up is a loomis mossyback BSR 803 that i haven't used yet but if it's half the rod my IMX is i'm sure that i will love it.
bronzeback01 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 PS before i bought my kistler i was looking at the carrot stick the only reason that i didn't go for it is that i absolutly hate the foam grip.
=Matt 5.0= Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I have fished Croix Legends, Avids, and most Loomis's and this rod beats them all imo. As far as opinions go..............thats a pretty bold one, but typical from young guys who just bought the "latest and greatest", and want to be an authority on something. Ya know, I wasn't even gonna respond to that trash.....but..... That's a bold statement from someone who doesn't know who he is talking to.... Age has nothing to do with.
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 All opinions need to be respected here guys. Age is irrelevant. Relate to the posters "experiences", not their age. Let's keep it civil
flippin4it. Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I own the LTX, Don't knock it til you try it. I bought the wrong one with a parabolic action, but I have been out tossing Minus 1's and other shallow cranks and it performs "flawlessly".
lubina Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 but I have been out tossing Minus 1's and other shallow cranks and it performs "flawlessly". Same here. It is lighter than my GLX 803 and even my Steez 6.7. One of the most comfortable handle that have passed through my hands.

Just who am I talking to then ??? He is entitled to his opinion that he thinks his rod is better than a Croix, Loomis, or what ever, I am entitiled to my opinion on his opinion. Just like you are on my opinion of his opinion............go fish your orange carrot rods and don't worry what I think.
Cajun1977 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 dude are you just trying to stir the pot with your remarks? because you havent fished the carrot stick you are now informed enough to say someone knows nothing due to their age? to me it sounds like jealousy, but since i am still young(30) i will just say my latest and greatest thought thinks its more stupidity than jealousy. have a great day pops

I don't own the rods and would be skeptical to beleive it's better than a GLX, Legend, or what not. Jealous??? I think not. : BTW as a farmer I might just start growing carrots to cash in on the huge boom in the market from all the rods beeing made.
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 I think we might have to add Carrot Styx to the Religion and Political Posts policies These things get heated
Super User burleytog Posted February 27, 2008 Super User Posted February 27, 2008 Age is irrelevant. :-?
CJ Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I think we might have to add Carrot Styx to the Religion and Political Posts policies These things get heated It ain't just Carrot Styx. Go start a thread about Kistler.
The_Natural Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I say you never know until you try but ........I don't have a dog in this hunt BUT for that kind of money- IMX or Legend Tourney, NO question about it. X2 X5 or so...didn't count how many people agreed with this. I'm not sure Raul has handled one, but I have, and Raul being telepathic felt the rods action through my hands (seriously...just ask him). Very light weight rod, but no matter which one I picked up at Cabelas; they all seemed like they were moderate-fast action.
