brianbjk Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I am looking at baitcasting set up for crankin. But I need a little help. I know what the different ratios offer but can u guys give me some ideas on what u use and why? Thanx again Quote
jrhennecke Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I get the highest speed that I can. I can always slow down reeling but it's hard to burn a lure on a slow reel. Quote
michbass Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 see for cranking I like a low speed. I use 4.9 to 1 but thats just me. I never really burn a crank. I have 7 to 1's but even if I can remember to reel slow I think it is better on a low speed reel. Quote

I have one 7 to 1 ratio reel and I am going to relegate it to plastic worm duty. I use a 6.3 to 1 reel for Rat L Traps and jerk baits, but a 5.1 to 1 for other crankbaits and spinnerbaits. Quote
