I am looking at baitcasting set up for crankin.  But I need a little help. I know what the different ratios offer but can u guys give me some ideas on what u use and why?   Thanx again

see for cranking I like a low speed. I use 4.9 to 1 but thats just me. I never really burn a crank. I have 7 to 1's but even if I can remember to reel slow I think it is better on a low speed reel.

I have to agree with you on this.  I have one 7 to 1 ratio reel and I am going to relegate it to plastic worm duty.  I use a 6.3 to 1 reel for Rat L Traps and jerk baits, but a 5.1 to 1 for other crankbaits and spinnerbaits.
