alabamabassmaster Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I have three spinnerbait reels that I use for spinnerbait fishing only. I use Abu Garcia 4600 C3 reels on Berkley Rods, what kind of fishing line is recommended for these? I have been using Trilene 17lb test but I would like some input to what you guys are using. Thanks! smallieking Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 hmm im not a big spinnerbait fisherman but when i do throw it i throw it on 20 pound fireline crystal thats me im interested in seeing what everyone uses as well Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 21, 2008 Super User Posted February 21, 2008 Everyone has their favorites, there is no "best" line. My suggestions are simple and repetative (boring): Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: Ultra Soft #12 (19.5 lb test) 8-) Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 21, 2008 Super User Posted February 21, 2008 I am starting to use the Yo-Zuri as suggested by Road Warrior. Otherwise, here is what I am using: Mono for treble hook baits. Fluorocarbon and copoly for everything else. Super lines and braid for heavy cover and deep water. I like light lines in the 8 to 10 test range for spinnerbaits and the 10 to 17 pound range for baitcaster lures. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted February 21, 2008 Super User Posted February 21, 2008 I like Yo Zuri as well but 15lb P-Line Floroclear is also one of my favorites. Quote
GitRDoneIke23 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I'd use 12# P-Line Flourocarbon or 14# Fireline smoke. Quote
sal669 Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 Tectan Premium Plus 0.30mm (0.0118" breaking @18.9lb); That would be similar diameter to #10 Yo Zuri Hybrid. Quote
alabamabassmaster Posted February 22, 2008 Author Posted February 22, 2008 What does everyone think of the Spiderwire 50-80lb test? I use the Spiderwire 50lb test on my DD22 reel and my pitching/flipping reels. Quote
4pwr Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Your 17# Trilene is just fine. No matter what line you buy you will be second guessing yourself. I use good old Stren original or Trilene XL and don't worry about it. I do have one BC rigged heavy. It is rigged with Trilene big game #20 test. Stop worrying about minutia in fishing line. Learn to cast. Learn to rig for various fishing. Learn to cast. In short learn to fish. Good quality mono still does a wonderful job. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 22, 2008 Super User Posted February 22, 2008 Stop worrying about minutia in fishing line. Hmm... I'm not sure which is a more important component of fishing tackle, high quality hooks or line, but one is THE most important and the other is a close second! 8-) Quote
67Ghost Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I've settled on 14lb original Stren or Cajun Red Cast on all my fishing duties. Stren for heavy cover and Red Cast for everything else. Quote
Fish Man Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 id have to say sufix seige, i use 8 pound and it works great for me Quote
