jdw174 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I got hooked on using them about 20 years ago and wouldn't think of anything else. I like being to place the reel where I want it. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 19, 2008 Super User Posted February 19, 2008 I like them for another reason. My hand doesn't have contact with cold plastic and the rough texture of threads and locking rings like most spinning rod handles have. Quote
joshmb1999 Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 i like them too...unfortunately i didn't get them with my new avids! Quote

My hand doesn't have contact with cold plastic and the rough texture of threads and locking rings like most spinning rod handles have. I just picked up several of the "rod wraps" for wrapping handles and did my spinning rods. You can wrap right over the reel seat on conventional spinning rods. Feels great. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 19, 2008 Super User Posted February 19, 2008 Had one, gave it away. No, I don't like them at all. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted February 20, 2008 Super User Posted February 20, 2008 I had two of them, a long time ago. One had "slip rings" that were always coming loose and had to be fiddled with all the time. The other had nothing; I had to tape the reel in place. never found a tape that wouldn't get gooey when it got hot. Plus, it looked like I was too cheap to buy a real rod. Hated both of "em, and gave them away. Quote
