I am looking to take advantage of the Shimano rebate and I was just wondering of a few places that held some competitive prices on the Curados. My usuals all have them at $199.

If you decide to buy from one of our sponsors (BPS, Cabela's or Delo's) please click on their banner so BassResource.com receives a small fee.

Yea I understand the rebate part. Just, as a college student, I could find a place that already had them at a discounted price before the rebate. It's rough trying to go through college with the bait monkey as a room mate. RW- Delos may be who I deal with.

Hey buddy, buy a curado D through Simmons Sporting Goods on Ebay. You can pick one up for about 149.99. E-mail the guy and ask him to print you out a receipt from their retail store and he will. They are an authorized retailer of Shimano. It worked for me and I got the rebate making my Curado 200dhsv about $109.99 total ;)

Hope this helps.

You have to buy the Curado for $199 through an authorized dealer to get   the rebate.

don't have to buy it for 199, but you do have to buy it from an authorized dealer.  I should have thought of the Ebay thing but I got mine from Simmons for 180 and got the rebate

Isn't that an oxymoron?

I know how that goes ::).  For my first three years I had a scholarship that bought a big portion of my books.  When I sold them back, ALL of that money was spent on fishing gear. ;)

This is incorrect.  You do NOT have to purchase the reel for a specific price.  The only stipulation is that you have to purchase the reel from a Shimano authorized retailer.

Where did this incorrect info come from?  I've seen it here multiple times.

From idiots who don't know how to read offer stipulations, and as a result, lose $$.

If I remember correctly (which I've been known not to do) it came from an interview with a shimano rep. I didn't say that because I'm not real sure and was looking for someone who was sure to let me know.

You can keep on being a jerk about it though.

Hey guy's/gal's, nothing to get excited over. Shimano made it clear, in black and white, as long as the reel was bought from an authorized dealer or reseller in the U.S., D.C., P.R., or U.S. military base, is NOT combined with any other factory offer, and was NOT purchased via an online auction, it qualifies. You can buy from E-bay STORES, but not an E-bay, or any other, online auction. Normally Shimano likes to keep price control so ALL thier dealers get a fair chance to sell the product, but some stores will sell cheaper sometimes. If you find one of those stores, more power to you.

Oh, I forgot, it has to be a new reel, not used or refurbished.

It actually says offer is valid on purchases made by end user customers from an authorized Shimano dealer OR reseller. Sounds to me like as long as you don't buy it used or from an auction they should accept it.

I thought personal attacks were against to terms of this forum.  I have not read the rebate form but this is a direct quote from  Shimano Rep Bantam1 on another well known forum posted on Nov 29, 2007 which is where my info comes from.

"If you want to get the rebate then yes. We will require proof of purchase for you to obtain the rebate. The receipt must show that you paid MSRP to receive the rebate.

This starts December 1st. Any purchases made prior to December 1st will not be allowed to receive the rebate."

Give Delo"s a call, they will give you a great deal. I have ordered many times from them, and I have been very happy with them. He gave me a great deal, I saved $ 50.00 with the rebate.

Call at 901-489-0228  and they are a sponsor on this web site too. ;D

That's where I thought it came from.  However, it would appear that he was mistaken as the actual rebate form makes no mention of MSRP.
