blackmagic33 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I'm thinking about buying a revo stx and was considering putting it on either a shimano cumara or a st. croix avid....any recommendations on which way I should head... -Toren Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 14, 2008 Super User Posted February 14, 2008 Can't comment on the rods, but the reel is an excellent choice. Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Got a 2 of the Revo's sx one on a 7'2" Cumara's M/L and a 7'2" Cumara M. 1 Diawa Zillion on the Cumra 7'2" M/H and Chronarch on 7'6" Hellium 2 M/h. The Cumara has outstanding sensitivety and backbone to boot! These are the most comfortable and light weight rods I've ever used. The Revo set-ups is my favorite with the Zillion set running a very close 2nd mostly becuase that's my Jig set-up and love the JIG! The one downside (very small one) is where they located the hook keeper. It's on the underside rim of the EVA foam handle just below the reel seat w/a teflon isert. If your like me and load up the lures with scent the handle can get a bit slick. Easy fix is to attach hook hanger of your own.Nice idea but in the wrong spot. There is also the lifetime exchange w/o a deductable just return it to where you bought it and they hand you a new one. Hard to beat! Check out Tackle tour for review Quote
blackmagic33 Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Thanks for the advice and that site was very helpful but now I don't know whether to just skimp and get the sx or go with the premier which is something like 6.5-7 ozs. which would be awesome on that cumara....decisions decisions Quote
bmadd Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I ordered a Revo STX and received it last week. I had a chance to try it out Sat. and I was very impressed. It is the best casting reel I have ever thrown on. All I can compare to are Daiwa Advantages but it is simply amazing. I am going to be ordering a few more before this spring Quote

I just sold a Premiere that I used 6 times for $160 after paying $259 new in the flea market thread so I could replace it with another SX. Not that I have anything bad to say about the Premiere it's just my personal preference. Quote
lubina Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I can't comment on Cumara, The Avid is a great rod for any reel. I don't see a big difference between the SX and STX, so I sold them both Quote
