dont know if its going on at your walmarts, but i just got back and they had an entire shelf piled high with 600 yard spools of 20lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid line in smoke and green for $3.50 a spool!!!. i got a spool of smoke. they also had some other lines for sale.

its 20lb so its pretty thick line. not really sure what im gonna use it for but i figure it's good to have just in case and i couldnt pass it up for 3.50 a spool.

Dom,

Big Game is good line, if it's on a good sale, you should give it a try. I think you will like it. Nothing beats it for the money. JMHO

I stopped by WalMart to get bread and milk and I looked at their fishing stuff. Still no stuff on clearance by me. I'll keep trying. ;)

They have most likely already sold everything.

Not really. I spoke to one of the old timers that worked the fishing department and he said nothing had been marked down. I had him scan a few items that had been mentioned in another thread and they were all regular price. The WalMart close to me sells some fishing stuff but not alot. For instance, some of the Rapalas on the shelf have the old style boxes and have a sticker on them that says new. Some of them have the old green WalMart price tags on them with the price marked out and a higher price marked on the hanger.

I don't doubt anybody here. They just haven't marked anything down yet. I will keep trying.

Thank you much Ronnie I have a ton of Cabelas pro line thats gonna hold me for the next few years, but I am sure other members can jump on that advice.

It depends on the sporting goods manager, they run each store differently. They clear a lot of Bass stuff now by us, because they cater to the upcoming trout season opener and need shelf space, once the trout opener passes they discount the trout stuff and use the shelves and hangers for more Bass stuff. Been doin it for years, so if you know how they manage their areas you can figure out when to buy what you need and save some bucks!

Give it to someone you don't like.

The line is too thick, way too strong

and far too stiff for bass fishing. The

worst part, you cannot break it even

when you want to (hang-ups).

I just checked mine yesterday...nothing's on sale.

gremlin, This sale is only on line. Not at the stores. I just checked with Cabelas and sure enough the same line is $17.99 there.

Just go to Google and type in Fishing line at Walmart and it should give you a link right to it. Clearance sale for $12.00 .Hope this helps, Mike

Serious.

My partner bought some for striper fishing on the Tennessee River. We get hung-up A LOT! Even with strong current and fishing from a big boat, he could not break the line. He ended up just throwing it away.

Could try it as braid backing? or a leader I use a 20lb mono leader.

good idea! thanks. i was thinking of using it as a leader for my braid, but i wouldnt have thought to use it as backing.

My local WalMart never runs that sale. The manager is a friend and I asked her and there would not be a sale. Its a small town and they don't carry much anyhow.

It is too thick for backing.  If you do choose to use it as such, watch out much you put on the spool or you'll quickly be out of room on the spool.
