Need feedback please

Hey guys Its me again, I'm looking for feedback on set up for my newest rods and reels. Looking on what should be thrown on them and what kinda line weight set up for them to be most successful. Now Keep in mind that I'm only on page 12 on the how to be a good bass fisherman handbook ;D

1.      I have a Round BaitCaster Abu Ambassador 6000 5.3:1 on a Berkley lightning MH action trigger 1/4-1 1/4 lure wt rod- I'm thinking jigging for this one, or what else can I throw with it, wactha think?

2.      This one kinda confuses me, Combo BaitCaster Pflueger Endeavor 4 bearing 6.3:1 on a Pflueger Endeavor IM-7 M action 6'6" rod. I was thinking a crank bait but not sure about it now cause of the gear ratio, Maybe the spinners or buzzbaits but hen not sure if the rods correct for that either so what would you use it for throwing?

3.      Pflueger President 10 bearing 5.2:1 on a Shimano 6'6" MediumHaevy Fast action 1/4-3/4 lure wt Tip+5, I'm looking forward to throwing soft baits with this one(picked up some *) so I hope I'm on key with that, unless you have something else to use it for.

4.      Really looking forward to feedback on these for success this year. Worst part is on the line for them, I'm really not sure what to set them up with and combo baits to use the rods on.

5.      I'm also looking into a Pitch and Flip combo 7' and what else I could use it for, maybe some Karu Jigs :-?

IMHO, you kinda doing it backwards !!

It is wrong to buy rods & reels and than think what to do with them.

Better way is to decide the type of fishing/ lure/average weight of the lure based on what kind off water you will be most often fishing, and then buy the proper tackle.

I would return all that stuff and start over again.

I would start with :

> 6-6 med power/fast or X-fast action for most "slow" fished baits (need sensitivity) up to 3/8 oz (soft plastics, light jigs, etc / maybe some SBs ?)(I prefer mod-fast for SBs, but there are guys here that will recomand faster rods; it's up to you)

> 7ft MH / Fast or XF for heavier of the same stuff,(I like mod-fast action for SBs, though), some frogging, (?)C-rigs,etc

> 6-6 med/mod for "fast(er)" moving baits(shallow and mid depth cranks, SBs ,Buzzers,etc); mod-fast action would work if you use a "strechy" line (mono, some copoly) and back-off the drag some.

For reels, a 6.3:1 would work as an "all arround", you would want a lower gear ratio for deeper CBs (5.x:1).

That's just a starting point.

Maybe it would be better for you to start with one combo and 1 or 2 bait categories, and after you become proeficiet, branch out to some other category ???

I will not recomand brands/models but as a general advise: buy quality at bargain price, don't buy cheap...

These outfits will work fine for what you have stated. Maybe not ideal for a tournament fishermen, as they usually carry 12 to 20 outfits, but for starting purposes they are fine. I would suggest for the Abbu you consider jigs, Texas rigged worms and maybe a carolina rig.

For line a pretty good rule of thunb is 8-10 lb for spinning and 10- 14 for baitcasting. Unfortunatly experience is the only way to learn what fits your needs exactly..................Al
