These received quite a write-up in BassMaster magazine this month. All the vendors listed are not taking orders. I would love to try some of the 2 1/2 inch shad or hitch colored ones. Does anyone know where any are available?

You won't be able to find them retail. People have been scooping them up to sell on ebay etc. Not only the paddletails are all sold out, but basstrix's other products are starting to as well due to the brand.

I still get basstrix paddle tails about every month. Keep half, sell the other half.

Don't bother with the 2 1/2 in paddle tails dude. 4" and up is where it's at, and 6" is by far the best.

I'll sellya a pack for $23 shipped! lol.

You better get the plastic just right. Too stiff and the action wont' be nearly as good.

Also, not sure how you're going to get the looks of these lures.

There's a few information going around on how to get them and how it's done.Del mart is one that i know of right now.

It can be done...It just takes some digging and practice.

Just because something is expencive doesnt make it right to steel it. Bruce doesnt sell them that expencive either, its the guys that are resaling them that are marking them up. They are not robbing anybody nobody is forcing anybody to buy them, plus all you have to do is call

800) 591-7171 and they always have them in stock

Absoltely. The 6" bait is the best. I think Bassmaster Magazine said the 6"er is only for 3-7lb bass. I know some 12" smallies that think different! :D

I haven't seen the knockoffs up close but I would guess that they're probably a solid bait, not a tube like the real thing. I rig them with an internal weight and a treble hook so a solid bait wouldn't be much good to me. I'm more than happy to pay $7/pack for the Basstrix baits. tight lines

It's not the Basstrix 2 1/2 or 4" paddletail that works, it is the 5" & 6" fat minnow paddle tail that you want for a swimbait.

The Bait Fry 3" is the hot Basstrix item for the fall shad bite. This little shad is fly lined, no weight with Yamamoto size 1 long shank off set hook inserted into the hollow tube.

Basstrix process to make these hollow lures is why the work so good, solid swimbait, like the Worm King paddle tails have been around for decades. I don't believe anyone will be making a good knock off basstrix anytime soon.

Bruce sell these baits packaged 3 each for the 5" & 6" fat monniow paddles tail and 6 each for the 3" Bait Fry under $7 and that isn't expensive for time it takes to make these hand made baits.

Or...

you could just buy the basic shad body baits if you're talking about  stripers.  Been using them for years,....it's the tail folks, sorry to say,lol  Anything with a paddle tail works for stripers to 30 lbs or so.  After that, (around here anyway) you need to go deeper for bigger fish, wire lining,.....too much drag w/ shad bodies.   Many guys WILL, however, use a single 9" shad body to get that deep.  No fancy pattern, no sexy eye, no hollow body,....just a paddle tail.

HYPE-LOVE IT! l

If that's the place in Oroville, they only have them in stock for 20 minutes daily. From 10-10:20am. Goodluck gettin through!

Yeah Brokjaw its Oroville.

LBH trust me the basstrix are neat little baits and they are far superior to your basic shad bodies. Yelas has one several tounaments with them and all the pros are buying them up. I Know nothing about stripers so I cant coment. I assume pressured LMB are harder to catch than small stripers. I am sure big ones are hard to catch though. Anything fish that gets big and old learns how to be hard to catch!

Yea, it is a great looking bait.  I used them for schoolies on the Delta with Redlinerobert this summer.  Great bait but for stripers,....no need.  That's all I'm saying.

Especially schoolies.

matt- you'd be surprised, salt water big bass are still just a bass :D

Ain 't that the truth ! some just plain lucky and happen to have their bait in the right place at the right time when big momma does something stoopid, but if I were one of those I wouldn 't have caught big fish, but the difference is making big momma do something stoopid many times.  :D

Prices on those Paddletails are just obscene in e-bay, 30, 40 and 50 plus bones a pack.  :)

Glad I bought some when they just appeared at TW ..... and I haven 't fished with them  :-?

Money Lures Money Minnow looks a lot like them.

Yep I called the 7171 number, but all they had was 4-6 inch.  I do most of my fishing in the Ohio river and bigger definitely ain't better. Most of the time you do better down sizing. We don't have many 6 inch shad......  I'd like to try them next summer up on Lake Champlain. Backwater Baits will take your order, but they say they haven't received an order since March.
