rocknfish9001 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I was seriously contemplating on buying this rod. What do you guys have to say about it? http://www.kistlerrods.com/p/KR/c-h2-worm-fishing-jig-rods/He2MHC70.html Quote
kms399 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 i was pretty unimpressed with mine. i hadn't had the chance to play with it in the store first if i had i probably wouldn't have bought it. thinking back i should have got a glx. I thought it seemed really tip heavy and as far as sensitivity is conserned it is a bit above my avids but not quite worth the $330 price tag. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 3, 2008 Super User Posted February 3, 2008 I like all mine. Just bought another a few days ago. I've had that particular rod for about a year paired with an Alphas Ito. I just got the heavy action and another to go along with it. If you are gonna get it, make sure you use this link. Two rods for the price of one. Sell the Mg rod if you don't want it. It will make your purchase even cheaper. www.kistlerrods.com/freerod Quote
sal669 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 For over $300 you should look at a Loomis ! Quote
topwaterbob Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Jimzee I have a LTA 7ft mh. I love this rod. I also use Airrus, Powell Max, St Croix Legend Tourn., Quantum Pro Tour, St Croix Premire. The LTA is just a joy to use. How does the LTX compare to the LTA? Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted February 3, 2008 Super User Posted February 3, 2008 Just a shade lighter than the LTA. Sensitivity is about even on the two. Nothing like having a 3.2 oz. rod neutral balancing on a 5.5 oz. reel. "Lighter Than Air" Yes, that is 8.7 oz. Most reels weigh more than that! Quote
gopherbass Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Looks like I have to buy a rod now, Jimzee. Quote
Fish MD Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 An ad in my bassin mag says if you buy a helium II you get a Masnesium for free. You apparently have to go to kistler's website to get the promo code and order directly too. Just a thought if you are serious about getting one. Quote

markc Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 For over $300 you should look at a Loomis ! Why? That Kistler is just as good as any comparable Loomis. The warranties are similar, and Kistler has the best customer service I have ever dealt with. If I was in the market, there is no way I would turn an LTX and a free magnesium down. I looked at a 7' magnesium crankbait rod the other day, and it was sweet. I guarantee you could sell the magnesium very easily if you so choose, but I doubt you would Quote

Super User 5bass Posted February 4, 2008 Super User Posted February 4, 2008 I didnt like the Magnesiums too much but my LTA's are the shiznit! Quote
sal669 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 With the free rod thrown in the deal is good (sorry, I didn't click on the link), to bad you can't pick any lenght, power+action you want. I still feel that at full price, Kistler rods are overpriced. Quote
