jb_adams Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Is it safe to use braid line for Fuji Alconite guides? I've got St. Croix Avid and Falcon Original series rods that I would like to try using Fireline Crystal for crankbaits and other baits. A friend of mine told me that braid can eat into the guides. Is that true for line under 20lb test? Quote
Super User flechero Posted February 2, 2008 Super User Posted February 2, 2008 Is it safe to use braid line for Fuji Alconite guides? Yes, Alconites are rated to handle braid. (any # test) Actually it's the lighter braid that is worse, the smaller diameter is harder on a guide. Alconites are fine for your application. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted February 2, 2008 Super User Posted February 2, 2008 your friend probably didnt have high quality fuji guides either. i have lightning rods and ugly sticks, the braid eats into them because they only have stainless steel, no alconite. you will be absolutely fine with braid on an aivd. i use braid on my avid when i fish worms/jigs. jb_adams Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 Thanks everyone! I wanted to make sure it wouldn't void my warranty or cause my guides to become chewed/frayed. Quote
