huskertko Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 I asked this a while back and nobody responded, maybe because no one had use them yet, so I will ask again. Has anyone used the new "invisible" braided lines? Stren Mircofuse and Spiderwire Invisi-braid. The Stren says it is very visible above the water but virtually invisible underwater. I really want to find a braided line that i like to fish jigs with but I feel like the others on the market are too visible. I have tried tying a floro leader to it, but I hate how the know goes through the eyes of the rod. It always gets caught on the last eyelet when I am pitching and causes a backlash. Quote
Super User David P Posted January 31, 2008 Super User Posted January 31, 2008 I've used the 10lb Invisi Braid. It's not invisible, but I dont' think it is much more visible then mono or anything of that sort. BUT, I was using the smallest line they made, I think if you got into the heavier lines, they're thicker, and might be more visible. I like Invisi Braid, and haven't tried the Stren braid. So all I can say is, I like the 10lb invisi braid, and from what I noticed it wasn't any more visible then mono. Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I've been looking all over for it but haven't seen it anywhere. ;D I'll be here all week. Quote
surfer Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I used it to knit a ski mask and clothes. It's better than camouflage. there I am ---> Quote
low_pro Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 my buddy only uses spiderwire on all of his reels (bc or spinning). he recently tried the Invisible braid on one of his spinning reels. he says he still prefers the stealth as he couldn't tell much of a difference between the two. I use stealth on all of my spinning rods but haven't tried the Invisible stuff... (out of my budget...) 8-) Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 how can we possibly believe braid can be invisible? Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 It's just part of the marketing hype to get sales. Same as "NEW","STRONGER", "LOW STRETCH", "LESS MEMORY", etc. Each term does not explain as to what they are compared to. That has to be determined by the purchaser. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 how can we possibly believe braid can be invisible? Less visible is probably more like it. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted February 1, 2008 Super User Posted February 1, 2008 I just bought some of the Spiderwire Invsi-braid just for the opposite of what it is hyped to be. I have trouble seeing the green or gray colored braids when wearing sunglasses and that line looks to be more visible above water. My other alternative so far has been using the yellow or gold braided lines. I haven't had an on-water test yet. Quote
