Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 http://www.abugarcia.com/service.php#REELREPAIR Scroll through it. Some useful information. Seems Abu is going to start offering factory custom reels and performing/tuning pars. (But not yet) Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 Now if they will only step up their spinning reel series and bring back the Stamina Drag system. 8-) Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 Hmm. Abu is looking better and better. Quote

I go to that site frequently and I've just seen it. That section has pictures of their Revo and Cardinal 800 which have only been out for a year. Quote

Oooooooohhhhh...details please Yes, details please. I'd heard they would be offering a 5.2:1 gear set for the Revos. I didn't know it was already available. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 I'll let you guys know how it goes after I talk with them tomorrow. I have an 800 number that was given to me by a guy who's already switched gears on his Revo's. I'd put the # up here tonight but I want to make sure I get a few sets ordered and the # isn't busy all morning tomorrow. ;D Carry on. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2008 Cool. I'm not going to order any. I'm just wondering if they are going to release a 5.2:1 Revo. If they are making gears, then I'd say its a good possibility. Out of curiosity, I wonder if these gears would fit the Revo. Abu Gear Set I'll have to compare the gears on one of my C4s to one of my Revos. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2008 I'll have to compare the gears on one of my C4s to one of my Revos. I don't think I'll bother. Looking at pictures of gears in a Revo and a Record rebuild, they look like they are different diameters. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 What other upgrades are available for the Revo line? I have the Inshore model. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2008 What other upgrades are available for the Revo line? I have the Inshore model. I'm not sure there are any Revo-specific upgrades available, yet. The reel has only been out for a years or so. But I understand that Daiwa handles will fit the Revo. Maybe you can confirm if your Bassart handles for a Daiwa will fit the Revo. Other than that, there may be bearing upgrades avalable. I'm not sure of, and have never checked, the bearing sizes. But there are a plethora of ABEC 5, 7 and ceramic bearings available for other Abu reels. Some of these may be interchangable with Revo bearings. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 28, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 28, 2008 BTW, I know linking to other forums is a no-no, but this is not a competing forum and is a saltwater site. And this thread on an Inshore rebuild may interest you: Inshore Rebuild Mods delete if this goes over the top. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 28, 2008 Super User Posted January 28, 2008 wow, that was very cool, thanks for posting the link. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted January 29, 2008 Super User Posted January 29, 2008 I ordered two sets of 5.4:1 gears for a couple of my Revo's today. I was hoping they had 5.1:1 but...... They had gear sets for the S, SX and STX. I hope I can figure out how to change them out and put the reels back together without having any left over parts. ;D Gears were a little pricey in my opinion....$25.47 per set plus $6.95 shipping. Quote
Super User Micro Posted January 29, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 29, 2008 Did you order them from Abu? I'm gonna call and see if they have any slower gears for my EXT Pro reels. Quote
bmadd Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Any progress on the swap? Maybe even ready to enlighten us to this magic phone number? ;D Quote

Ok, you said you'd post the number or order details once you got yours... I "need" a set. ;D Would you mind posting the source, or if not will you PM me the source? Do you know what the IPT is with the 5.4:1 gear? Thanks Quote
