Red Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 so i took my good C3 (older one) and i took my other C3(newer one but broke) and swaped parts so now my newer C3 works perfectly!! but i dont have a rod for it. i would like to get something decent for cranks. nothing longer than 6'6" i am looking for something in the $75-$100 range...any suggestions? thanks Cliff Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted January 23, 2008 Super User Posted January 23, 2008 Did the C3 I sold you break?? Let me know if I need to do anything to make it right with you. As for a rod a BPS Cranking stick is a great cranking rod in your price range, I would go with the MH as the M is a bit too limber IMHO. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 23, 2008 Super User Posted January 23, 2008 If you can find one on sale, St. Croix Avid AC66MF. Although this is rated Fast Action, the tip is soft and is appropriate for all treble hook lures. This is a fine rod for crankbaits, but you will particularly like the way it handles topwater lures and jerkbaits. I think you will also like this rod for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. With the exception of soft plastics and jigs, this is truely an "all-around" stick. 8-) Quote
Red Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 no the reel you sold me is perfect...actually its not anymore cuz i stole the parts from it to fix my other one ;D need to get another levelwind deal for it....thanks for the recommendations guys, i will let you know what i decide Cliff Quote
Red Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 did a little lookin around this evening...i think it is a toss up between the crankin stick(BPS) or this one http://www.americanrodsmiths.com/Products/DavidFrittsEGlassCrankbaitModels/tabid/106/Default.aspx what do ya think? this will be strictly for cranks thanks Cliff Quote
booneangler Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 The David Fritts reel is awesome im telling you. You will love it. Im getting ready to buy another one. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I use the David Fritts American Rodsmith rod paired with the BPS David Fritts Reel and I love it. I don't think I will ever replace it with any other rod when it comes to Deep Cranking. I have the 7'6" rod and I wish I would have gotten the 7'11". Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 24, 2008 Super User Posted January 24, 2008 I am probably in the minority, but IMO those Fritts glass rods are too damned whippy. Granted, I have not fished them, only played with them at the stop & rob. Quote
booneangler Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 The David Fritts rod is perfect for cranking. Quote
Red Posted January 24, 2008 Author Posted January 24, 2008 i dont throw alot of deep cranks...actually i dont even own a deep crank...but i like to throw shallow divers and lipless cranks alot....this would probebly also double for spinnerbaits...but i dont throw them much either. thanks for the info guys...i will let you know what i buy and how i like it Cliff Quote
