Stuff You Bought , recommended here, that you didn't like

Hey I thought it would be interesting to see stuff you bought that others loved here that crapped out for you

1. Cajun Red Line: Invisible????? What's the point , one of the biggest disapointments Stren and Cabela's Proline really outperforms this product was touted highly, and performed like infomercial stuff :-/

2. St Croix Premiers: The single biggest purchase I made , based on what fellas told me here. Every other rod I used from this company were great, INCLUDING THE TRIUMPHS, were a more than pleasant experience, fine rod makers. I had 5 different Premiers go through my hands, 4 bought new and on I got from Senko77 ALL 5 threw out a guide insert ot tip. The fellas at Cabela's said this was a huge problem with these rods.What crap!!

3.GYBaits: not crap by any means , *** distributes products that perform just as good, and they are cheaper and last longer. However one of the best Reccomendations , from RW , FAT IKA, is a go to smallie lure for me now!

4. Shimano Reels; These reels are great and well made, RW even sent one my way. I am so used to PFLUEGER REELS, and trust them so much , I stick with them. These Reels are well made , this is just a product confidence issue , either compamies product will be enjoyable and long lasting.

Well thats really not a fair try. I put some on A spinning reel and some on a Bait Caster, and used them for about a month. Wasn't impressed, especially on the spinning reel, lot's of memory and coil. I used the same reel ( I have 2 Presidents) with Cabela's proline much more sucessfuly, which is the line I have been using for years. Cajun Red just didnt add up and cost twice as much :-[

Most of the stuff I bought that was a suggestion was for specific use in certain places that has worked on other waters as well.

Those were just baits and colors.

Rarely will I invest a c note or more based on recommendation.   I will if I have had my hands on it before, tried it out first.

Would you go buy a 1200.oo graph with out seeing it perform?

To be honest? Seguar Invizx. Some people like it and that's great! But I'm not a fan of the spool of the 4lb line that I put on my trout setup. Actually Vanish performed a lot better for me and was a lot stronger. The 4lb Vanish actually pulled a 3lb bass out of some serious slop when I was dragging a Senko on top of the slop. Normally I wouldn't fish this setup in slop lol but I didn't have my other setup on me. Weird seeing as Vanish gets a horrid name around here and Invizx is praised. But it was the other way around from my fishing experience.

For me it was the chronarch b and the mg never really was happy with them. Never had problems with them but just wasn't much on them. I Like shimano just not the chronarchs. I read on here how much everyone liked them but it just didn't work out for me.

Hey Matt; Thers fellas here, from being here for a while and really trust. RW,more than most has made me go outside the box and try things that have improved my fishing experience. While I have fished for a long time it is a whole different level than most of you fellas; YOU ESPECIALLY, I have downloaded a lot of things you have put up on bass behavior to read them over and over again. Granted from fishing a while, and comparing notes I have developed a system i am getting comfortable with. Some suggestions seem great here, and in the tackel shop, but after a while of a fair try just don't work out for me.

Pay more attention you mook,lol.  You need to stop the jig about a foot before it reaches the tip.  I promise,...no matter how hard you try, you'll never pull it through the first eye on ANY rod,lmao

Yup, I bought a $5000, 5000w Furuno for my salt boat.  This thing marks a handful of 3" chunks dumped overboard at 500+ ft.    Could show the difference between a Pilot Whale and a Tuna (same size) by color density ID.  Tuna's mark blue, Pilot's mark yellow.  Awesome tool.

Just did not like the way it looked in the water. Actually I am using the rest for backing. It is easy to see under the top line.

You think thats bad; I was on the Fork with Flukey and I hung a spinnerbait on a log, he grabbed my rod and said : All you have to do is poke it with the tip and the spinnerbait comes right off

Net Result: I had to stop at BPS to exchange the Etreme rod ; BECAUSE THE TIP INSERT HAD JARRED LOOSE!!!

I've definitely had more hits than misses from this website, but one thing that I haven't had much luck with is Fat Ikas. I don't doubt the success others have had with this bait, but it hasn't been a consistent performer for me.

That said, I'm not giving up on them, yet.

I agree that most of the highly recommended stuff here is great, but the one product that I could not stand was the Yo Zuri hybrid ultra soft.  I had problems with it from the get go and just really dislike the stuff.

I found this to be a great product, but the price difference vs results  did not justify switching brands.

Definatley the first thing that comes to mind is St.Croix Avids. I used them for a while but then picked up a Rogue, then a Kistler, then an Airrus XL, then a Carrot Stix LTX. All about the same price, (I cannot figure out where you guys get Avids for under $120). And well, comparing it to other rods and Croix's customer service, they are just a waste of money in my opinion.

The other thing is Lucky Craft lipless cranks. Seriously, what is the difference besides the hooks between a $15 LC and a $3 Rapala or Lewis? I cannot figure that one out. Like comparing a Rico popper to a Pop-R imo.

Browning Citori rod.........at the time i thought i was getting a good rod cheap. i even liked the rod for a while when using it but after a while i noticed that the rod always felt too heavy in my hands.

1. Rapala X-Raps

2. Seaguar Line

3. Cajun Red Line (used it years ago and still no luck)

4. One All Star Classic rod (I would like to think this was user error)

1. Yo-zuri line (and ultrasoft)

2. Gamma co-polymer

3. Shimano Citica

4. Shimano Curado

5. Shimano Chronarch 50mg

Not meant in any way to bash Shimano, still a big fan of their spinning reels, but I never found a baitcaster that felt 'right' to me. Luckily I listned to the advice on the TD-Z's. ;D ;D

You probably got the TD-Z's for $199 didn't you .  Stellar deal, but  not really fair for even the $250 Chronarch.   I really liked my Chronarch 50mg's and would recommend them, but obviously not over a TDZ.  There's only a few that won that lottery.

BPS Extreme rods - to me they seem over rated as in their MH Fast action rod seems more of a M ModFast (this is coming from a st croix user)...a 2lb bass snapped mine, good bps return policy though.

*** - I've switched from senkos/brush bugs/worms because aluring baits just hold up better, and at the price...they're hard to beat.

Fat Ika - love these babies, too bad they're 6-7.00 a pack =/ (*cough* help us out ***! *cough*)

PowerPro/Stren Braided lines - Love the braid, and love these two brands, I find the green color comes off the Stren more but it's not a big deal...never tried suffix but i'd probably like it too.

Acadia rods.  

A few people said they were a good value and a few people said you get what you pay for.  The ones who said you get what you pay for had never tried the rod so I took a chance.  

Well you get what you pay for.  The P series is worth $35

It's the lures, some I haven't had a chance to try yet.

Senko - vastly overated.  It seemed for awhile that that's all that anyone ever threw on this board.  It has it's time and place IMO.  It can be outfished with other baits often.

Swimbaits - I bought some cheap ones.  I'm not about to invest $20 + on a single lure that you have to throw half a day and hope for one bite.  I still haven't caught a thing with them.

Yep. 2 at BPS, 3 at Cabela's-all $199 each.

Definitely wasn't attempting to make a comparison between the TD-Z and any of the Shimano's I listed, definitely apples to oranges. I was just not happy with the 'feel' of any of them.
