Has anyone used or own this rod? I am thinking about buying a couple for the upcoming season. I need new cranking sticks, and these seem to be the best value.

They are the best value in a cranking stick around.  I own one, also own a Falcon Cara Reaction crankin rod.  I am not going to say that the Falcon is not a better rod, but I would do find with only BPS crankin' sticks.  Occassionally you can get them for about $30 on sale too.  I use 6'6 in medium action for most applications.

I picked one up last year and they are great for the money. If I used more cranks I would buy more but, I am hooked on lead and plastic. :-/

BPS has last years version of that rod for $22.50 now.

I'm looking to buy a BPS Cranking stick this winter myself as I haven't been completely happy with My Falcon cranking rod. I can't cast shallow, light weight cranks with it. For those of you that have used the BPS M cranking stick, can it handle those lighter cranks ?

I only want to carry one crankbait setup, so I really need a baitcasting setup that can handle a Mann's -1 to a Rapala DT-16 if there is such a rod out there.  The reel is a Daiwa Team Advantage 153 HST spooled with 30 lb Sufix Braid and a 12 lb flouro leader.

Joel,

I have noticed that most Crankbait specific rods are rated for M 1/4-5/8 and than MH 3/8-1oz. I plan on picking up a M and a MH, and then maybe a 7' MH that is rated for up to 1.5 oz.

But, BPS does have last years model on sale for 22.50, I'm going to try to pick up at least two of them, and then save up for some reels.

my mistake, I looked on their website it seems that they are $26.50

I have 3 crankin sticks, a 6 ft med and 2 6'6" med.  Great rods for the money and great crankin sticks.

As for the question on the small crankbait rod, I'd go with a M/L action crankin stick.  Another rod you might consider is an All Star Classic 6' Med action model BCM-6.  Great rod for tossing lighter baits.  You can either get the latest All American Classic or look around for an older Classic.  I don't think there's really any difference in the two other than blank color.

BTW, never pay full retail for those Crankin sticks.  Those things go on sale at least a couple times a year.

I had a few BPS Cranking sticks, a 6'6 M and a 7' M, loved the 7', hated the 6'6". They are good cranking rods, but my next cranking rod will be a St Croix.

I was also thinking about a couple of crankin sticks. Im thinking about getting a 6 foot medium action for shallow divers. Also would a 7 foot medium action be good for medium divers and deep divers???

You want something heavier than a M for deep cranks.  Try throwing a DD-22 on a M action for 30 minutes and see how tired you get.

The only thing that is a little off with mine is that on an overhead cast the bait goes about 5 feet to the left on every cast, my Dad noticed it when he was casting it. I usually side arm em' anyways. It really is a great rod though.

So it would be better to get like a 6 foot 6 med for my shallow and medium divers and a 7 foot med heavy for my deep divers.

Also when did they start selling last years models for 26 dollars because I was there last week and they werent on sale yet. I have never ordered a rod from BPS do they package real good and everything.

Will start off with a BPS  7' M crankin' stick.  If I can throw a Mann's -1 with it, then so much the better. If not, then I'll have to go with two crankbait setups like I did last year.

I've owned a number of BPS rods over the past couple years and the crankin stick has held up better than the more expensive rods.  For under $30, I'm gonna pick up at least two more now while they are on sale.

Hey WW2, Why didn't you like the 6'6" and loved the 7'?

I can't wait until I get my new Debit Cared and PIN in the mail so I can order a couple of these before they sell out.

The sale is on the Bass Pro website. Sometimes you won't see the sale prices at the store, but if you ask for the internet sale price, they will give it to you no problem. Same with Cabelas.

I've fished with a BPS Crankin Stick for two seasons, I think it's great.

At full price they are a good deal, but when I saw them on sale for $26.50 the other day, I told my wife they were the best deal in rods right now.

They are on sale now online

I order a Diawa rod from them last year, it was packed and in place well...

Though my local post office has been pretty disappointingly when it comes to how they ship/take care of their packages...

If you haven't received a package that was broke or for that matter the box was ripped or torn  (from usps) then ordering a rod from BPS won't be a problem

The 7' had a soft tip, but was more stout further down the blank. The 6'6" bent like a noodle retreiving a Mann's 1-, I do not care for rods that feel that way.

I have no problem with getting tired. I used a 7' m for my dd22. Maybe it because I'm younger and in shape. ;D

I ordered my crankin stick the other night. It will be here really soon!!! ;D

I did play around with it at BPS and it felt good!! When I saw the online price I didnt feel like going back to BPS so I just ordered it online.
