Bassnajr Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 Hey all... I was cruisn E-bay for the next big fishing deal when I came upon this: http://www.daiwa.com/Reel/detail.aspx?ID=234 What do you folks think? This reel can be had for around $60.00. I like the twitchin switch idea. Good deal or just another gimmick??? bassnajr Quote
TournyFish001 Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I held one in Sportsmans warehouse and it felt pretty dang smooth for a $60 reel. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I have the Viento, which has a twitching bar, and I just purchased the Megaforce. I actually don't use the twitching bar much, but the viento is a great reel. I purchased the Megaforce, because it seemed like a good reel for the money and not specifically for the twitching bar. You may have fun with it for a while, but in the long run, you may not use it much. Quote
armesjr Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I own one, and i like it so far. It casts a mile and mine is pretty smooth. I got it a couple months ago, and i have only used it a couple times. Been too busy hunting. But from the initial use, i have put it through i like it and the price was nice. When i did fish with it, i mainly used the twitchin bar to reel in slack, not actually work the bait. Quote

To group B of skeptical selfish sobs who like to watch the fight from oustide the ring that don 't shell out a penny until group A has shelled the money getting and trying a product with absolutely no track record. Or Group C someone who got the reel brand new for half price and couldn't resist tring it out. Quote

Group C thru Z I think Daiwa is gunna revolutionize the low end reel market with the megaforce and exceler reels. It will open up a new Daiwa fan base that otherwise would not own a daiwa because of the high prices. Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 17, 2008 Super User Posted January 17, 2008 Daiwa like any other manufacturer has products for any budget, one of the best reels for 70 dollars is the Procaster 6+1 ( PR100H/HL ) which is being clearanced everywhere ( most probably discontinued already ), it 's better than any Shimano in that price range. Bean Counter Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I got one for Christmas and fished it once just to try it out. It is a pretty good reel but I don't like it as much as the Quantum Accurists I use now. I am planning to sell it on E bay when I get around to it, but I will let you have it for $50 including shipping if you are interested. Quote

crankybaits Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I was thinking it would be good for maybe drop shotting or jerkbait fishing. So you could keep 1 hand warm in your pocket and the other reeling in slack; that's only because those are the only techniques i use when it's freezing cold out. Quote
