Which of the 2 will I be able to use more different applications?

Would the 7.1: 1 be too fast for most apps?

If you have one, did you use mono or braid?  And what pound test?

The red 7.1:1 sure does look Sharp!

I have the high speed Zillion and it is a great reel.  I usually fish it with 50lb Power Pro.  I use it for just about anything but you just have to remember to slow it down when you need to.  I found it works best with 3/8oz lures and above.  I have tried lighter weight lures but it does not cast as far other reels I own using the same rod, line and lure.  It is the perfect fit for lipless cranks, topwater buzzbaits, and jerkbaits.  I was also surprised at how much power this little reel has.

I would highly recommend it.

!

The 6.3:1. It is still a fast reel with 28 IPT. I have both as well as the 4.9:1.

I agree with ghost, I got 2 of the 6.3:1's as they are as fast as most manufacturers' 7.1:1 gear ratio's.  I actually prefer my 6 Alpha's and 2 Sol's for almost everything except for frogs, and buzzbaits as I find I prefer to fish slower at any given time than be to fast.  At 28 IPT it is hard to get yourself to reel slower 95% of the time.

Take care,

Steve

I would get the 7.1:1 for jigging, worming & targeting in gun n 'run fashion ( like fishing targeting to holes in weedbeds ).

That's precisely why I bought mine 8-). Although I haven't got to use it yet due to..........the ice . Definitely a looker of a reel (IMO).
