shoff Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 The curado currently has a $50 rebate, I got mine in about a week and a half. Quote
ABC123 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Well, the one I wanted to pick is not up there, so I went with the Daiwa-X. I think one of the best baitcaster values out there right now, if you want a larger bait caster, is the TD-A153HSTA. It's a lot of reel for $160 IMO. Weight isn't bad either. Quote
Super User flechero Posted January 12, 2008 Super User Posted January 12, 2008 Do some price shopping, you can easily beat every "deal" you listed. Your best bet is to decide on your reel and then go find a good deal on it. Quote
Jake. Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 You can get Revo SX's alot cheaper than $160 on ebay. Quote
BassBoss10lbr Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 in my opinion you left out the best deal and it is from pinnacle. You talk about silky smooth this is it. At only $145 this is a GREAT deal. just my opinion. Don VISION VLP10XLT Baitcast Features » 13 Stainless Steel Bearings » Soft Touch Finish Metal Frame » Metal Gear Box » Easy Dial Centrifugal Brake System » High Speed 6.2:1 Gear Ratio » Unlimited Anti-Reverse™ » Titanium-Shielded Line Guide » Quick Access Removable Side Cover » Audible Click Star Drag » Multi-Stack Trulon Drag Washers Quote

I have the 07 model Supertuned and the new HSTA is noticeably smoother and all around better. Heckuva deal for $160. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Daiwa exceler blows all of those away- $69 and is arguably as good or better than some of the reels you posted. I have a couple and just can't believe I can buy two of them for the price I paid for one curado. I did'nt vote. my write in vote: Daiwa Exceler. Quote

I think Daiwa has a new brake system coming out. I heard mention of one, and that would explain why the Magforce V and Z systems are being installed in the lower price point reels. Quote
d.hark Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 You can get Revo SX's alot cheaper than $160 on ebay. Yes its true you can get any of those reels for less than retail on Ebay. But you cant justify a poll on whether you can great deal or not on Ebay. But I do have a complaint about the poll. You can get the Curado for $150 with rebate so that should be addressed in the price. Quote

If you don't like ebay, Revo SX: $149.96 at wally wold. ;D http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?dest=9999999997&product_id=5439150&sourceid=1500000000000003260410 Quote

Super User FishTank Posted January 13, 2008 Super User Posted January 13, 2008 With the rebate, I think the Curado is the best deal for $150 and if you are able to find a coupon say for Dicks, BPS or Cabelas you bag this real pretty cheap. If I had to pick my favorite out the ones you have picked, I would go with the Zillion. IMHO, it is the best workhorse reel out there. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted January 13, 2008 Super User Posted January 13, 2008 Your best bet is to decide on your reel and then go find a good deal on it. I agree with flechero, it's better to pick the brand that best suits your personal wants and needs, rather than letting the brand pick you. Shopping from the bottom-up keeps the buyer in charge. All that said, the posse obligates me to vote for Shimano Curado ;D : Roger Quote

Casting, drag, build quality..etc. I think it is as good as the Curado- time will tell on the durability I have no reason to think it wont be solid so far. The drag is not bad plenty strong and adjustable. It is a bit finiky on casting baits less than 3/8oz but it can be done- at the price I would buy two over one curado any day . Quote
