Masshole Mike Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 i found an ad on craigslist the other day that had all kinds of baits for sale. this guy about an hour away sold his tackle shop in north carolina due to a divorce, but he took most of his products with him when he moved back up here and is selling them off for huge discounts. i took a ride out to his place tonite with my buddy joe to check out what he had and ended up coming home with this lot. 13 bags Deep Creek assorted plastics 6 bags Yum assorted plastics 6 bags GYCB assorted plastics 2 Booyah jigs 1 bag Storm swimbaits 3 Bomber crank baits 1 Matzuo Fantastic Minnow Okuma Nemesis NS-200W baitcast reel All Star Pro Series PR786C MH Fast action baitcast rod the Okuma's thumb switch doesn't engage when you turn the handle after a cast, so you have to flip it by pushing it up with your finger, but other than that reel and the All Star rod are brand new. all told i spent $105 for the whole bunch. the rod lists for $49.99 and the reel (in working condition obviously) is around $100 new. the plastics would have been about $120 retail. i should be all set for a little while. ps. any ideas why the bail doesn't engage on the okuma? Super User Bassn Blvd Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Is the drag loosened all the way? if so, tighten it. Or better yet- it broken. Quote
Masshole Mike Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 no it's not the drag, i'm sure it's probably a broken piece inside, i just didn't know if anyone knew what it might be. i'll have to get it fixed or try doing it myself but i know zilch when it comes to baitcaster's. *edit* so i just figured out that if i turn the reel over so i'm looking at the reel foot and engage the bail switch and then start reeling, it works perfectly normal. the thumb switch pops back up every time. then if i turn it back over like how it would be sitting on the rod and try doing the same thing, it doesn't work. the bail stays open when i start reeling. anyone? bueller? any ideas what it could be? SpringCantComeSoonEnough Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Nice catch with those baits. Christmas came a little late for me too this year. I came home with a nice new Stradic FI 2500 for $80 on Saturday. (For those of you keeping score, that's a good $24 below dealer cost and $80 below MAP!) ;D I'm thinking that a second will wind up finding its way home with me by this coming Saturday, along with an Avid at a ridiculous price as well!
