I read alot of posts and I see it all the time, someone seeing a good deal or what they might think is a good deal and they make a spare of the moment buy. After it is all said and done the only one that is happy most of the time is the bait monkey. This has happened to me a time or two. Matter of fact I have been dealing with it all week long. I found chronach reels on sale for 180.00 from 265.00. This is a great deal on great reels. However, I'm a Daiwa guy and I almost made a switch that I don't know if I would have been happy with in the long run. The bait monkey is a powerful dude and there is times I really need to watch out for him. The bait monkey has helped me through some great buys and also some that I have not been to happy with. Has this ever happened to you and what positive and negitives has came from it?

If you were REALLY a Daiwa guy, the Chronarchs wouldn't have caught your eye in the first place! B)

A Chronarch for $180 what a deal.  You should be proud.

If I find it on a mega sale, regardless of brand I might jump on it.  It just depends on what it is.  In the past I have purchased the following on impulse.....

Shimano Curado SF 201 $40

Shimano Calcutta 251 $30

Shimano Stradic 2500 $65

St. Croix Avids $65

Zoom soft plastic $1 a pack (any of them)

Lucky Craft Crank Baits $5

I'm still waiting to find a good Daiwa or Pflueger on a mega sale.  I might jump on a Veinto or President when they go on clearance.

Feels good to be honest with yourself, doesn't it?  ...lol  We are all (most anyway) tackle or equipment junkies.   B)

But seriously, why the buyer's remorse?  They could be sold for what you have in them- if you don't like them.

Last week I received a Cabela's coupon that was $30 off a purchase of $150 or more, so obviously I had to go to Cabela's and spend $150 bucks so that I could "save" $30 dollars.

Positive: I have a new Stradic FI 3000

Negative: I have $130 less in my bank account.

In this case, I have to argue that the positive outweighs the negative   8-)

Should have contacted a Sportsman's warehouse and had them ship you a Fuego or Sol. $179 RH, $159 LH is a pretty close to mega deal. They also had Presidents for $99.

;DI've been victimized by the bait monkey many times.  I hate to pass up a good deal on a quality product.  My wife got tired of the clutter, so last year I packed up 4 tackle boxes full of lures and several rods and reels and gave them to the Salvation Army.  Unfortunately, the clutter is already back.  Now, I'm looking for a good rod rack to alleviate the pile of rods and reels in the corner of our bedroom.  Darn bait monkey!
