ABC123 Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 All I want to do is buy a replacement handle for a Daiwa TD-Zillion, but alas, search after search has yielded NOTHING! I've tried a few bait stores with no luck. The closest factory repair center is 125 miles away. I really don't care to do phone or E-mail tag with Daiwa, what are the options for finding replacement parts??? Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 "Why are parts so hard to find? So you say "_____ it" and go out and buy a new reel. : Quote
ABC123 Posted January 7, 2008 Author Posted January 7, 2008 "Why are parts so hard to find?So you say "_____ it" and go out and buy a new reel. : ;D That very well could be their way of thinking. The only problem is, one of the reels is so new, I haven't even opened the box yet, the other was taken out and mounted on the rod, and the third has been used 3 times. I'm looking to swap out the factory handles with swept ones. I would think that there would be decent money in offering replacement handles for upgrading. Quote

Are you saying you don't want to order through Daiwa, or do you want an after market upgrade? Your Zillions should have a swept handle on them. I think I'm confused. :-? Quote

Are you saying you don't want to order through Daiwa, or do you want an after market upgrade? Your Zillions should have a swept handle on them. I think I'm confused. :-? I have 1 Sol, and 2 Fuego's. I know I can take the drag adjuster off and bend the tabs to get a TD-Z handle to work on the Sol, but I'm not sure on the Fuego's. I might not be able to bend them and have to order replacement drag adjusters for the swept handles. I don't really want to spend $115 per reel for I'ZE handles, just to have swept handles. Even though you do get BB knobs, I'm just not sure it's worth it. Oh, and yes, I was hoping to find a smaller store that sells the parts, instead of having to go through Daiwa. If that's what I have to do, then I will, but I was hoping to find a store of some sort that will sell the parts. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 I got ya now. I thought you already had three zillions. I didn't read the post right. Daiwa will sell the zillion handles. If I were you I wouldn't be bending on those dragstars unless you can get a machine shop to do it for you. Too expensive of a mistake to fix. I got my I'ZE handle for $95.00 shipped. I would say the zillion handles would be in the ballpark of $50.00-$60.00 from Daiwa. Just a guess. Quote

I figure I can make a cylinder that the drag knob will fit in, with a wall thickness the same size as where I want to bend the tabs. Then just press away. The Fuego tabs concern me, becouse of their thickness. I figure if I break one, I'll have to get the pre-bent replacement ones. Where did you get the I' ZE handles for $95 shipped???? Do you get a choice of finishes?? Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 You got it made on the machine shop end. I'm jealous! Sounds like you're gonna be turning out some sick looking reels. Please post pics when you get them set up. PM sent on the I'ZE handle. Quote
