Super User Root beer Posted January 3, 2008 Super User Posted January 3, 2008 I've been gearing up for lake guntersville in april and I just now relize I have no H rod. . Do you think my 7mh airrus co-matrix can get the job done in the milfoil? I'm shop around for a 7'6 H maybe just a 7'H. I mean the extreme is on sale right now, but I dont have money right now because I just ordered a combo and didnt relize I needed a flipping stick more. Maybe I should just get a cheap 40.00 BPS that'll get me through for a year or two then upgrade. I mean I plan go to college so it hard to stretch the budget. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 3, 2008 Super User Posted January 3, 2008 You don't have to buy another rod, your MH will be just fine. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 3, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 3, 2008 I asked dad about it and he replied "it aint the rod it the fisherman controlling it." I mean bottom of airrus co-matrix pretty strong, but the tip is really flexiable. So I was just a tad bit concern I might not be able get a monster out of the milfoil. I guess if I play it right I'll be fine. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 3, 2008 Super User Posted January 3, 2008 Airrus rods action are like that of Carrot Stix. So they are stiffer than you would think. A medium heavy action on an Airrus is like a Heavy action Croix or Loomis imo. Quote
FHUAngler Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 A) to pull a monster out, you gotta hook a monster I have a medium action rod that i use for topwater frogs and poppers over the milfoil and hydrilla all summer long, and you will be fine. I fish there once or twice a week all summer. PLUS, depending on when you decide to come, the grass doesnt even mat up until late may. IMO, the fishing is best when it is about 1 foot under the surface. Great topwater action. Quote
Super User Root beer Posted January 4, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 4, 2008 FH, I'll be at guntersville in april. I got few buzzbait I'm arming up. . I even change skirt color and drilled a hole or two in some of 'em. I'm ready for guntersville. I guess I'll stick with the MH. I wont be using frog that much, but my dad going to be wanting to throw them things all day long. Quote

FHUAngler Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 buzzbait should be hot at that point. dont forget your rat-l-traps and lipless cranks too. Chances are, if you find grass, you find fish. You need any advice, shoot me a PM. I know that place like the back of my hand. Where are you going to be putting in/staying? Quote
