Spider wire braid?

but does any1 own any and if so is it worth the money to buy it?

Compared to other brands like Suffx, Power Pro, and other brands on the market it is   imo.

Spiderwire stealth is real strong, higher quality braid, but....it's not round. It tends to wedge itself together as it spools up. Not a great casting line, but works well for trolling and jigging. I do use it, but not for casting, anymore.

well i read that power pro has rounder line shape instead of the diamond shape of spider wire would that be any better perhaps?

I'm not a big fan of PP, I've had issues with it that makes it not so appealing to me. Stren superbraid is a great casting braid, but it does tend to be a little rough (makes noise) going through guides. I've heard a lot of good things about Suffix, and that is the braid I am try this year, along with Yo-Zuri hybrid and hybrid ultra soft (none of them will be competing for the same application(s)).

If any of you guys have any of that "junk" Spiderwire in the Original Braid, I'll be glad to take it off your hands. I like it for it's smaller diameter, lack of shape, and quietness passing thru the rod guides.

I have tried these braids, Power Pro, Suffix, Spiderwire Stealth, and the newer Spiderwire ultra cast. The Ultracast is IMHO the best braid yet. Keeps it's color far far longer than Suffix and Power Pro, is quite going through the guides, and with the coating they put on it casts like a dream. Funny, even with the slick coating, ties great knots. I like the 30lb for most of my braid needs, 8lb mono diameter, but unlike Stealth, it is a little stiffer so it does not tip wrap, or wind knot.

suffix is the best imo,cast very well and dosnt dig in spool as bad as others.my second choice would be p pine spectra then power pro 3rd

hmm i fish in an area mainly where there are a lot of weeds so i thought it would be good to pull lures out if i get any hang ups

would that be a good aplication?

well ive used spiderwire stealth and original braid it is pure 100% junk. cant stand the stuff.

then i used p-line spectraIV on my spinning reel and it is much better than spiderwire stealth.

then i used powerpro on my casting reel, and i like power pro the best out of the four superlines ive tried.

i'd like to try that spiderwire ultracast and see just how great it is.

First of all Andrew welcome to the forums.

In answer to your question yes that might be a decent reason to use braid. Another along the same thinking is to get the fish out of the heavy weeds quick to keep them from getting all tangled up.

The braid can come at a price though as it is not avail in clear so fish can possibly see it easier.

I've used Spiderwire some but it seemed to unravel after time. The color also seems to fade fairly easy. I look at Power pro ( have not used it ) and it seems to almost have the same texture but I could be wrong about it.  What I like the best is Stren Braid as it is round and seems to cast the best for me. It doesn't give me any problems.

If you are using a baitcaster another option is a non braid Yo-zuri hybrid ( Yo-zuri ultrasoft for spinniing ) as it is virt clear and has a very small diameter for lb rating. It's spec also list a MUCH higher breaking point that the lb rating of the line ex 6lb line might not break till 12lbs. Thus you could use maybe 15lb test and still pull out of weeds. I don't have a lot of experience with this line I plan to use it more this summer.
