ABC123 Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 After deciding I still wanted a "modern" crankbait rod, I kept my eye's and ear's peeled for a deal. Finally the deal came in, and I got a CBR845. The price was a little stiff, $190, but, I figured with the price increases coming, that was going to be about as good as it gets. So now I have all the rods I want, short of a Walleye trolling rod. I don't troll much where a special trolling rod is required, so I will just pick up a cheap $80-$120 combo some day if I find a real need for it. No more bait monkey for me. From now on all I should need is replacement line, hooks, some plastics, and terminal tackle. With a lure or two thrown in to keep the tackle box fresh. Quote
Jake P Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 congratulations, that gives me hope that one day mine will leave me as well. now you can just fish and not worry about a rod or prices or where to go to get it. Quote
Bob Kavanaugh Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 You shouldn't let your guard down like that. He'll sneak up behind you and whop you on the head with a frying pan, steal your credit cards, and go to town! Quote

He'll sneak up behind you and whop you on the head with a frying pan, steal your credit cards, and go to town! Nope, not going to happen. The only major purchase I have left is a new depthfinder, but that is a couple years away....I hope. The one I have should last a couple years, then when side imaging is advanced enough for me, then I will get one. Side imaging is fairly new, I see there being some bigger advancements in it, in the next couple years. Quote

Lucky Craft Man Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I thought the same thing. Well, 15 G Loomis rods later I was then convinced I was done. Well, a few days ago, I started thinking, "I need to upgrade all my Musky rods." Now I am looking at buying G Loomis Musky Rods. It is a never ending process. That freakin' monkey will find a way to get you. Quote
Infidel. Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I'm like lucky craft man, I couldn't tell you how many times I thought that my line up was complete. I always think that I have my "dream team" but every year there is a whole new wave of fresh talent and I always end drafting a rookie or two. Quote
ABC123 Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 Yeah, a local store has a 3 power crankbait series rod marked down to $150, the only rod they have marked down. I have passed on it the last 5 times I've been in the store, so I think I might be safe. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted January 5, 2008 Super User Posted January 5, 2008 I have one more rod I want built and then I'm done.....sorta. I would still like to have a new TD-A HSTA but I'm going to wait until spring and see how long I can get along without it. My guess is I will end up with one by early June. Quote
Ballpark Frank Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I am hoping that when I get another Revo(or maybe even a Shimano or Daiwa) that I will be done. I just got my BCR803 back today and had to put the SilverMax on it. Not a bad reel, but not the right reel for a $350 rod. I now have "my" ideal 4 rod setup(3 G.Loomis BCs and 1 St. Croix Spin). This is all I can carry in my little boat and my kayak, now I am going to concentrate on my techniques, water reading, etc. Quote

Andrew Coleman Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 sooner or later he'll give ya a ring neverending battle with he monkey Quote
