Lucky Craft Man Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 I just received my Bass Pro 2008 Master Catalog and the price of all the G Loomis rods went up. It went up $9.99 in most cases and from a few I saw it went up $14.99. Is this just Bass Pro raising the prices or is G Loomis raising the prices? Quote
Pencil Pusher Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 It's Loomis. All G. Loomis authorized retailers sell for the same price. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 27, 2007 Super User Posted December 27, 2007 Yup, the BCR jumped from 185 to 200. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted December 28, 2007 Author Posted December 28, 2007 Well, I was going to wait and use my gift cards on a new GLX, but with these price hikes, I took advantage of the fact the the IT guys haven't updated the Bass Pro website with the new prices and ordered a new rod at the old price. luckyinkentucky Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 That's the case for most equipment in the Master Catalog that comes out. You can still get the previous price for the rods if you order before 31 December! After that you have to wait until the Spring Angler sale happens, and when they get you a Spring Catalog. They generally raise the prices in the Master Catalog that way they have room to play with when it comes to sales. For instance. I bought another Johnny Morris Elite rod in the store the other night. Before Christmas they were on sale for $129 each. In the store they were $179. So, I told the sales clerk, and they did a '90 day low price check', and I got it for $129. I do this for anything I buy, other than baits, at the store. I ask that they do a '90 Day Low Price Check', and I always get it for at least $10 cheaper than what they have it for at the present. Although, I did pick up another 6 of the Rick Clunn Lucky Craft baits while I could still get them for $10.88! ;D Patience usually pays off for you to wait until the end of January to buy . This is when they start getting rid of the old to make way for the new. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 28, 2007 Super User Posted December 28, 2007 Not just rods but tackle has really gone nuts, especially jigs, hooks, and spinnerbaits. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 28, 2007 Super User Posted December 28, 2007 Not just rods but tackle has really gone nuts, especially jigs, hooks, and spinnerbaits. Tin.... Lead = Bullets for war Old batteries are really hot items with salvagers around my area right now. Quote

Lead = Bullets for war Old batteries are really hot items with salvagers around my area right now. Never put that together before. Same here, some places are getting almost $4 for a battery. When I worked at the landfill batteries and copper where two things people where stealing left and right. Once saw a guy pull up next to the battery container, throw 7 batteries in the front of a newer Lexus SUV, and drive off. Quote

The reason I don't is that we aren't in the same boat we were in WWII. As a matter of fact, the world price of lead is scheduled to drop $400 per ton in 2008! We have so many sources for lead in the U.S. that we could have wars on 2 fronts, and still not have to raise the price. I think it is just the bait companies making up for the rise in the cost of transportation. I would be more likely to lean towards the cost of transportation than the cost of lead. With crude oil in the $96 a barrel stage. The cost of transporting goods across the US has increased dramatically. Quote
ABC123 Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 I just received my Bass Pro 2008 Master Catalog and the price of all the G Loomis rods went up. It went up $9.99 in most cases and from a few I saw it went up $14.99. Is this just Bass Pro raising the prices or is G Loomis raising the prices? The SJR721 rod I got reduced to $150, from Sportsmans warehouse, is $229 in the BPS catalog. The retail sticker on it reads $210. Some of the prices are going up more than $15. Maybe that is really why the Sol and Fuego is/was discounted too? A future price hike??? Then again maybe they are just not going to sell them anymore. I guess we'll have to wait and see what the real story is as it unfolds. Quote
cbfishalot Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 The G Loomis guys must read bass resource and everyone pumping there rods up. They must have thought it was a good idea to raise the prices. Everyone talk bad about St Croix and they will lower there prices. Quote
Super User flechero Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 The same graphite materials and technology used in rods goes into lots of military applications. Loomis rod prices have risen slower than the US inflation rate for the 15 years I have been watching them. So if you want to be really honest about it, the IMX and GLX rods are actually cheaper now than they used to be... feel better? ;D Quote

I wonder what improvement went into them to raise the price $6 per lure? And the DT Fat cranks look like killers.....I can see a box full of them arriving here in the near future. Quote
