RobbyZ5001 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Well I have just recieved my reel from delos. Right out of the box the reel was reeling very tight like the brake was on hard. I lossened all the brakes internally and externally and I will spin the reel as hard as I can and it would barely go across once. I messed with my Trion and it went aross 3 times. By across I am talking about where you put your line through traveled across the face. Any solutions here? Am I missing something simple? Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 23, 2007 Author Posted December 23, 2007 I took the spool out and everything and it still is doing the same thing. The one I felt in cabelas today reeled smoother also there is like a rubbing sound. Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 23, 2007 Super User Posted December 23, 2007 I'm lost. Are you depressing the thumb bar then spinning the spool? If so, why is the line guide moving at all? Doesn't the line guide disengage in free spool? I just checked my Curado 200 Ds and the line guide only moves when actually reeling. It doesn't move when I press the thumb bar like I'm getting ready to cast. If I spin the handled to make the line guide move, I can only get it to go across once, too. Mine are working fine. I'd say loosen the spool tension knob, but not too loose. Some reels will make noises (scraping, rubbing) when the spool tension knob is too loose. Set all your brake pins to off. Then press the thumb bar and give the spool a spin. I bet it spins, and spins and spins. Quote
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 24, 2007 Author Posted December 24, 2007 I am talking about when I am reeling. I just wondered because on my Trion and the others I have tried would spin a lot easier. I give it one hard spin and the handle usually spins for quite awhile but not on this one. I was just curious if something was wrong or not. Quote

Super User .RM. Posted December 24, 2007 Super User Posted December 24, 2007 RobbyZ5001, Don't mess with it send it back. Remember in the 06 Shimano® Curado D, Citica D, Cruix, reels they had a tolerance problem, (this could be an 06 reel). That made the reels crank tight, and would cause the line carriage to bind up in the reels. There is a fix, but you would have to send it into Shimano® to have the upgrade placed in, or to me and I would have to get the upgrade in and install it. There are other reasons that your reel would be tight out of the box, Cast Control Cap to tight, brake blocks binding in the brake race, etc. Again send it back to the retailer for replacement, or send it off to Shimano® they won't charge you. Super User Micro Posted December 24, 2007 Super User Posted December 24, 2007 I don't think I've ever given my handles a spin until I just tried it with my Curado. The Curado's spun enough to get the line guide across the face once. Then I tried my Revo STX and the line guide went across a little more than 2 times. Both reels are working just fine. The Curado is a 7.0:1 and the STX is a 7.1:1 reel. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 A new, out of the box Shimano with a problem? I can't believe this thread wasn't locked, taken down and then buried in the backyard. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Is Delo's bad to do business with? I've had no problems with the few orders I've had with them. Good prices, good service. No complaints from me. Quote
