Super User ww2farmer Posted December 24, 2007 Super User Posted December 24, 2007 First the rod buying spree..............and now I just bought a SHIMANO Curado with the $50 rebate. 2 weeks ago I was anti-Shimano but man the 101 size reel seems like just the perfect ticket for the TBC 7' MF I just got. I wish they offered the rebate on the Chronarch 51MG...............OH GOD!!!!!!!!!!! LISTEN TO ME. Quote

Cajun1977 Posted December 24, 2007 Posted December 24, 2007 just out of curiosity why were you anti shimano? Quote
castaway Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Congratulations. I also was anti shimano before. Now I own a Metanium XT, 2 calcutta 100's and a calcutta 200. ;D Ivan Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted December 25, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 25, 2007 just out of curiosity why were you anti shimano? Well.........back in the early 90's I had a Shimano baitcaster, not sure of the model, but if I remember correctly, it was a decent one that fell apart on me with little to no use. Still not jaded by Shimano, in the late 90's I bought a green Curado, bad luck perhaps, but it also was a lemon from the get go......AND..........Shimano service at the time gave me alot of grief over it. I swore off Shimano after that, but...........I will give them another shot, odds are I can't get 3 bum reels in a row, and even more so, I am older and wiser now, and perhaps I didn't "know it all" back then either. HogHooker Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Stick with AbuGarcia, way better! ;D just an opinion Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Stick with AbuGarcia, way better! ;D just an opinion I'll second that. All of my reels are AbuGarcia. If I can't break it or mess it up, its the perfect reel for me. Quote

Super User ww2farmer Posted December 25, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Oh I still love my Revo S, and I see a Revo Premier in my future, along with a TD-Zillion, and maybe a Shimano Chronarch 51MG............gotta keep the $$ spread around evenly Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 Agreed! You miss out on too much good stuff if you stick to one brand. I'm thinking about getting a Daiwa next. Merry Christmas. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 25, 2007 Super User Posted December 25, 2007 The Bait Monkey strikes again! You did good. I would think you will enjoy your Shimano products. The only problem is that Shimano will change the inner workings of their reels and not change the reels' name. Therefore, a 2000 Curado may not be the same as a 2007 Curado with its workings. Abu is an excellent option. Great products. Enjoy and let us know how the reel holds up. Quote
