shootermcbob Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I just purchased a cabelas tourney trail 7 ft. heavy power, fast action rod they had teamed with their tournament zx hs reel for 79.00. I also received a 10.00gift certificate for being one of first one hundred people in the store. This is my first heavy power rod. Does anyone have experience with either this rod or reel?? This will be my jigs, t-rigs, c-rigs rod. Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Sorry, haven't tried it. I'm sure if someone has tried it he'll speak up... Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I fished the Tournament ZX all last summer and loved the reel. I just got a chance to turn all my baitcasters to Pflueger Trions, my favorite so i cleand and lubed the zx the best i could and gave it to my friend bill, he's lovin it now! He caught a Steal Head on it already, upstate NY Quote

Super User grimlin Posted December 20, 2007 Super User Posted December 20, 2007 yeah muddy, the ZX is $39.99,ZX HS Is $59.99.Well worth buying at those prices. Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 they are excellent buys for the money, both of them. I however really love Pflueger Trions and now have them on every rod I own 8-) Quote
hammer84 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 yeah muddy, the ZX is $39.99,ZX HS Is $59.99.Well worth buying at those prices. I was told yesterday the combo comes with the HS reel. Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 20, 2007 Author Posted December 20, 2007 The combo does come with the high speed reel. I bought mine with a 7 ft. heavy power fast action rod. Also, got a 10.00 gift card for being one of the first 100 in the store that day. 69.00 for this combo seems to be a pretty good deal. Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 anyone else fish with this rod or reel?? I was wondering how well the reel would hold up? Thanks to all. Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Even thoguh it's in different hands it is takin and lickin and still tickin after a year. Just normal lube so far Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 22, 2007 Author Posted December 22, 2007 Thanks Muddy. I am new to fishing and, with two kids , just trying to stretch my fishing dollars as far as I can. I saw that combo on sale for 79.00 and thought that, even if the reel and rod lasted only a few years, that is a good value. Quote
