MN Basser Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I was looking at the Daiwa Baitcaters and they are pretty nice. Which is your favorite? I know the advantage is good, my brother owns one. Are the Tierra and Megaforce pretty good? Thanks. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 Don 't have a true favorite I like all the ones I own, I 'd say that my all around Daiwa BC is the TDZ, but I also enjoy fishing with the Pixy ( Pixy/GLoomis CR721/8lb test line = 10 in the funometer ). Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 I don't own any Daiwa baitcasters, but I know they are excellent reels. I'm not sure I know what the letter mean (ie.: TD-Z, TD-A ) TD = Team Daiwa? Z = Zillion? A = Advantage? Is that right? Where is the Team Daiwa Advantage made? Is it Japanese? I like the Advantage Super Tuned. I'm thinking of a new reel in the next few weeks myself. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 TD-A is made in Thailand. So, you guys in the know...just what does the Zillion have that makes it worth $100 more than the new TD-A hsta super-tuned? Quote
xxmurrxx Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I have a TD- Advantage super-tuned, I have not used many bait casters but I think its a good reel, better than the others i have used. And I have the tierra spinning model and love it, I would assume the BC model is good too. Quote
ABC123 Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 ( Pixy/GLoomis CR721/8lb test line = 10 in the funometer ). That is the EXACT setup I am going to make. I've had the 721 for awhile. I have a spincast reel on it for pan/crappie fishing right now, but I'm going to get a Pixy for it now that I have my SJR721. Quote

Are the Tierra and Megaforce pretty good? Thanks. I really like my Sol, and don't see myself getting anything but Daiwa baitcasters in the near future. I have a Pixy and a couple Fuegos on my list, if I can still get the Fuegos on sale. The two Sportsmans warehouses I went to wereout of lefthanded Fuego's. If I can't get them, I'll be getting JDM's most likely. I would think the Tierra would be a good reel. It has the Magforce-Z brake system. It also has the good drag system too. About the only real difference I can see between the Tierra and the Fuego is the weight. The Fuego retails much higher too. Quote

Zillion is Team Daiwa Zillion. You are right about the case of the Advantage Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 I have a Daiwa Zillion and it's a workhorse reel. It's light, powerful and easy to use. I would highly recommend it. Quote
Charger169 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 My son has had many of the Daiwa's. His favorite is the TDZ but it is no longer made. He has the Fuego, Sol and like sthe Sol better. He has the Tierra and loves it. He had an Ito but traded it away for a Steez rod. He also has the Steez and loves it but traded that away for a Japanese rod. He also has the advantage supre free and liked it better than the Zillion. New Exceler is out and on order for Christmas. Hope he likes it. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted December 20, 2007 Super User Posted December 20, 2007 I think the new TD-A HSTA is the best value going in baitcasters right now. This is a lot of reel for $159!! It's a good thing Shimano dropped that rebate bomb, because paying $200 for a Curado when you can get this TD-A for $159 just ain't reel smart Quote
Chad. Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I think the best bang for your buck right now id the Advantage-HSTA they say there a minimal difference between that and the zillion in pure feel, but take that with a grain of salt as i have never used the Hsta yet. Quote
SteveF Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 I have 2 Sol's, 2 TD-X's and 6 Alpha Type F's. THe Alpha's are by far my favorite, with the Sol's coming in next in line. The TD-X's I would like to sell as they are just slightly to big for my small hands. Happy Holiday's, Steve Quote
