Super User Micro Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Quantum's going after Daiwa in the gaudy market. Quote
The_Natural Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Oh wow...you guys have to enlarge the photo! It looks so super gaaay it's not even funny. I'm not commenting on them copying Daiwas swept handle (isn't that patented?), but the drilled holes of the Zillion as well (it looks like a retarded Zillion) . I know Daiwa has the latest and greatest...but at least put your own spin on it! Quote
The_Natural Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 That's just hilarious...I can't believe they didn't play off of it...they just copied it the best they could. Quote
LakeAnnaBasser Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 It looks funny. But you cant judge a book by its cover so im just gonna wait and hear a field tested review. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Definetly got some bling to it. Looks like a Calais and a Steez bred. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Interesting. Total Zillion rip. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Another 9 oz. reel. : Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 I have a couple of Quantum reels that I like a lot but this one looks like it might be more about looks than substance. I tend to shy away from any of the branded reels with a pro fisherman name on them or the words "exclusively made for" attached to it. Quote
Super User .RM. Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 I made contact with Quantum one day, and asked about their signature reels, or the store re-brands they made. They told me that they didn't even support those reels. That reels (KVD 1000HXD) MSRP $99. The Tour's MSRP is $239, the Energy's MSRP is $189. I would say the new KVD 1000HXD, is really lacking somewhere inside for sure.... BTW they also have a spinning version in the same price range. Quote

Agreed...I love the Quantum tours and use them almost exclusively as bait casters. Saw that this was coming out and have had Quantum KVD sig reels in the past and have been pretty let down. No where near the price of the Tour or energy but in my experience his older reels also lack in the performance and durability. Quote
Infidel. Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I had one of the KVD reels that were based on the 600 body style and it was a good little reel. But I just can't get over how butt ugly this thing is. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 this should be made into a case study for a marketing 101 course. lol- they look pretty aggressive and at the price range to move, the KVD will appeal to a lot of customers as well. I really like my quantum tour PT burner- I am curious what the new PT's will look like. Quote
hammer84 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I have a KVD spinning reel and the previous model of the KVD baitcaster. I have been very happy with both. No issues. It does have a lot of bling but I'll give one a try. Quote
volpster31 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 i kinda like the looks of it,but like reel mech said, its gotta be lacking something somewhere................ so id stay away from it Quote
The_Natural Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 this should be made into a case study for a marketing 101 course. Yep...Marketing 2043 at OU . That's d**n near all we did was a case study every two weeks. That reel will probably sell just because some will think it looks like an expensive reel for $99... Quote
shimanogloomis man Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 quantum imo is an over priced zebco btw that reel is butt ugly Quote

So what the hell happened to BSU and OU this year! I thought I'd see the sooners national champs and the Broncos in another BCS bowl well maybe next year. Quote

I know we are getting OT, but we'll kick West Virginia's arse...especially now their coach is going to Michigan. I read your post...and I immediately thought..."Somebody's been to college " No other way you would know what a case study is. Quote
mike bat Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 who knows ... quantam isnt a bad co.. i had a pt x metal the blk one .... it was a sweet reel ..... a work horse ... i do agree with the weight factor .... i believe they need a reel that is smaller framed and liter in weight ..... Quote

I agree...Quantum has it's fans...this reel isn't Quantum's top of the line by any means. The Tour Edition reels have somewhat of a following. Much different than a reel that looks more edgy than the Tour Edition PT while having less features. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I have a feeling that the new PT's will look a lot like this new KVD model with a whole lot more bearings and a different color scheme- just hope they make it out of lighter material as well. The new PT spinning reels are a new desighn and still as heavy as the last model- lame Quote
