Help with new rod suggestion

Im 5'9 looking for a rod that my height or just a little bigger, something i wont have to replace in a year although ive had my guide series spinning rod for almost 3. Price is important because i dont want to spend a fortune and i dont want something that is going to break. Nothing to heavy but nothing light at all.

well, im not to sure, that is why ill take the list of suggestions then let narrow it down to a few and start a poll. I know this sounds silly but ill probably be using my taxes to pay for it anyhow so i guess prices isnt extremely important but yet again, i dont want to spend a fortune neither. Not until Im a pro

Get a G Loomis IMX MBR783C on eBay (if you look enough, you can get one for around $150. I bought one new on eBay for $103, but this was the deal of the century). You can do everything with this rod and you should have it for a long long time (assuming you take care of it). If you happen to break it or it breaks on you, for $50 you will have a new one delivered to your door (that's G Loomis XPeditor service). That is a great rod and it is well worth the money.

Check out All Star.  All Star's American Classic rods are fantastic.  They are light, sensitive and brute strong.  On top of that, they are great looking.  They have very nice components - Fuji reel seats and guides.   I have several Team All Star IM10s (the next grade up) and several American Classics.  The American Classic are just as good and cost less.   Full retail is $90 and you can find them on sale for a lot less.  

If you have a Guide rod, that's a Gander Mountain store brand.  Gander Mountain sells All Star.  My local Gander Mountain carries the full line of American Classic rods.

I'll throw out a few suggestions.

Under $50....Lightning rod.

Under $100....Cabela's rods.

$150ish....St. Croix Avid

$200ish+ Loomis IMX or GLX.

The above is going by MSRP, there are ALWAY'S deals out there on any given brand of rod...if you know where to look.

If you search around on the site, you'll find quite a bit of info on good rods in any given price range. Shimano, Allstar, and Falcon are a few others that come up as having at least some rods in their line up being good values.

For an all around rod I would have to go with the St. Croix Avid.  IMHO, it is a great rod for the money and it is simply a well made rod.  If you're looking at a higher end rod this might be a good place to start.  

Another suggestion would be the BPS Extreme if this is out of your price range.

I would ad Fenwick HMX. At about $80, they are great rods. Take a look at Shimano Clarus or Compre; and thumbs up to All Star and Falcon rods
