Super User 5bass Posted December 5, 2007 Super User Posted December 5, 2007 One of my buddies called today and said that Shimano is overstocked with Curado's and they are now offering a $50 rebate just to move them. If anybody needs one or two, I can get them for $189+tax and I'll have the rebate forms to send along. Too bad I'm not a Shimano user....$50 off is a good deal. Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 6, 2007 Super User Posted December 6, 2007 For $50 buck off, maybe it's worth becoming one. Quote

And Abu, and Quantum Not that the Curado is a bad reel. Shimano just tried to use the reputation of the old one to sell the new one and that worked very well until folks found out that it can't live up to that reputation. Quote
tyrius. Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 $50 off the curado $30 off the citica $20 off the cruxis Are they overstocked on them all! ;D Quote

Now that you mention it, I think my buddy did tell me the rebate thing did go on until April.....so you're in luck. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Don't you find it odd that the rebate dates coincide with BPS spring fishing classics(stores have different dates)? They still will not participate in the reel trade in. Seems odd....And the rebates are the same as the trade in values would have been........Al Quote
Pencil Pusher Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 The only reason any manufacturer, reels, rods, cars, electronics, etc., gives rebates is to move inventory. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 6, 2007 Super User Posted December 6, 2007 I purchased a 201 Curado last year and took it back for the simple reason that I liked my old green Curado 201 SF better. That's not to say it was not a fine real, it was just not what I expected and I also wanted a light weight reel that I could palm. So I guess you could also say that I simply purchase the wrong reel. With a $50 rebate though, I might have to consider purchasing a 101. If I catch it on sale like I did with the first one I purchased($160), that means a bottomline price of $110. I don't think there is a better reel for sale right now in that price range. One more thing, I hear all on this forum who rave about the Abu Revos but I have yet to find a fisherman in my area that owns one. Also, the two stores that I frequent the most (Dicks and Gander Mountain) have yet to sell one. I am not knocking this reel. I looked at a couple of them yesterday and at a glance, they look like a finely made reel. I just wish I could see one in action. I saw that they are coming out with a new version in 08' that is supposed to be a heavy duty reel but supper light weight. Any info or reviews on this reel? Quote

Super User FishTank Posted December 6, 2007 Super User Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks for the links. I think the reel I am talking about is the Premier and there is a great review on a thread all ready running. Quote
