ghost Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I know the specs says 10 lb, 90 yds. But can I use 12 lb mono, like Yozuri Hybrid instead??? I know that I'll lose yardage if I go to 12 lbs, but will it affect the reels performance? Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted November 21, 2007 Super User Posted November 21, 2007 I use 10 on my Sol with traps and small cranks. 12 wont ruin the performance though. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 21, 2007 Super User Posted November 21, 2007 Absolutely. It just means that the reel will be holding less line. For bass fishing it probably won't matter one bit. Salmon is a different story. Last year, a brute chum spooled my Curado D which was at full capacity with 12# CXX. It was the best 22 minute battle I fought and I lossed. Tipped my hat and shed a tear. :-[ Quote
ABC123 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 That is the exact line I have on my Sol. The line acts a little stiff when you first use it, but I don't think that has anything to do with the reel. I had no issue with the line on my one and only outing with the set-up. Figure the most you cast out is 100ft. Say you get 75 yards of 12lb line on the reel, that's 225 feet. There would still be enough line to keep a good base on the spool when casting out. You may have to respool more often as there isn't much extra for cutting off damaged line though. Personally, I wouldn't go much bigger than 12lb line, but 12lb line has worked fine for me on the reel. Quote
