joshmb1999 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Now that i've solved my spinning reel quandry by picking up a stradic this morning i have to turn my focus to a new baitcaster. I have a Fenwick HMX 7' MH Fast casting rod with no reel and I have narrowed it down to either the Shimano Citica or the Pflueger President. Thoughts? Which would you get? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 20, 2007 Super User Posted November 20, 2007 I would probably be leaning towards the one labeled "SHIMANO." 8-) Quote
joshmb1999 Posted November 20, 2007 Author Posted November 20, 2007 I would probably be leaning towards the one labeled "SHIMANO." 8-) I knew you would say that!!! I've only been a member of this board for a short time but it hasn't taken me long to figure out you have quite an allegiance to Shimano reels...but as always - thanks for the feedback. Quote
Super User islandbass Posted November 20, 2007 Super User Posted November 20, 2007 X2 for the Shimano. Until I started fishing, I thought that Shimano only made bike components. : Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted November 20, 2007 Super User Posted November 20, 2007 x3 for the citica!!! dude you gotta go w/ shimano. i bought a citica as my first "quality" baitcast setup, much like you are buying now, and i LOVED it! it was just so awesome. i bought another one (100 size...my first was 200 size) and im gonna put the 100 on my new crankbait rod. The Next KVD Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Shimano hands down. Although I have not fished the President, I can't find a reason why to leave the citica. If you have heard of the old curado's then you should know that the citica d's are pretty much like the them. They are the new workhorses of the Shimano line in my mind. Quote
Guest muddy Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Hey Check the Trion out it is 30 bucks cheaper and more than enough reel for me. Quote

Super User cart7t Posted November 21, 2007 Super User Posted November 21, 2007 I've fished with a couple Presidents. If my hands weren't so messed up I could handle the taller profile of that reel and I'd probably be fishing with all Presidents right now. I really like the reel and the price is right. Nothing against the Citica other than it's a heavy reel unless you get the 100 version which holds less line than either version of the Presidents. Quote
skillet Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Never fished the President but sure like my :-*Citica :-*... As Ever, skillet Quote
