JLMass Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hello everyone im a saltwater angler who sometimes fishes fresh i was brought here by looking up the rod called a carrot stick its made out of carrot based resin and since its a fresh water rod i figured who better to ask then some bass fisherman , does any one here have one and how does the spinning reel version work out im just curious because it might be a good inshore rod For redfish and specks. Any in info thats not on there web site would be great. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 The guy to ask is RedlineRobert. He owns a carrot stick and just got done whipping some Peacock bass with one South of the border. The rod worked well apparently and would probably be very suitable for reds or specks. Quote
SneakySnook Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Check out tackletour.com and there forum. There is a lot of info on there site. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Myself and another member (tin2win) have the spinning version arriving on Tuesday. Redline Robert took his to Brazil to battle Peacocks. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1194386684/0 Quote
JigNBig Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 I'm thinking about buying the casting rod and ill let you know how I like it, though it doesn't look like a rod I would want to put up against a redfish. Would you be using braid with this rod? Quote
JLMass Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 no braid i like a general setup right now i have a custom 7ft rod with a stradic 4000 with 10lb mono i can go to the beach Pier catch pompano, Spanish and king mackerel then go wade fishing for specks reds and flounder then hit up the local golf course ponds and the few lakes for bass i was just curious about this rod and how the action is i need a med/fast action something strong but enough whip in the tip to bounce a jig thats all. Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 12, 2007 Super User Posted November 12, 2007 I used my rod with braid in brazil, 65 lb Sufix on a Daiwa Sol with the drag locked down. I threw small cranks and Zara Spooks with my rod and of ALL the rods I took, my guide was most impressed with the Carrot Stick. This is the same guide that has worked with Jimmy Houston, Kevin Van Dam, and Johnny Morris just to name a few. Quote
