=Matt 5.0= Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I want to get a concensus on what you serious jig fisherman use for rods. Casting or Spinning, it doesn't matter. Specifically interested in 3/16 to 3/8 oz jigs, Brand, Model, Power and Action if you would be so kind. Thanx! Matty Quote
basspro48 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 My main jig rod right now is a 7' Medium Heavy Kistler Graphite Special, however when faced with heavy cover I will switch to a 7' Heavy Daiwa Tournament Flip'n stik. And when I'm throwing real light jigs, 1/4oz or less, I'll go down to a 6'6" Medium Heavy G-Loomis GL2. All casting rods, I really don't use spinning tackle anymore at all. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 I use two models: Kistler Helium LTX II 7' MH - The reason I use this rod is purely for the weight and sensitivity. Pick one up and you will know what I am talking about. The other I use is a Kistler Mg H 7'8" All day Flippin' Stick. Sensitivity is good with braid, but it has the backbone to pull a 6 lb. bass out of a clump of flooded brush. (Most of the time) : Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 G.Loomis GLX MBR844C. My second choice would be an IMX MBR844C. I don't have a third choice. Any questions? Quote
Super User Alpster Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 MBR844C IMX is what I use most of the time . For flipping/pitching it's my Loomis FS905 IMX 'Flippin Stik'. You can pull the bass and the stump she's wrapped around out with this baby! 8-) Ronnie Quote
Guest avid Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Loomis BCR875C-GLX. Virtually all of my jig fishing is flipping/pitching. This rod is light, sensative, has good length at 7'3" and is strong like bull. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 I got me one jig rod Daiwa TD-V701MHRB Team Daiwa-V; Length: 7' 0 Line Class: 10-20 lb Lure Weight: ¼-1 oz; lots of backbone for moving bass out of cover quickly. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 Gentelmen, I appreciate your help. As a friend once told me in a drunken stupor "I love you guys...." Quote
ABC123 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Worms/plastics and light jigs I use a Loomis BSR 803 GLX spinning rod MH power extra fast action. For heavier jigs, I have both a Loomis SJR 783 IMX MH power fast action spinning rod, and a Walleye series rod MH with fast action spinning rod, that I mostly use for vertical jigging for 'Eye's. A good medium spinning or baitcasting rod would work well for what you are looking into. I'm a big fan of extra fast action rods when it comes to jigs and single hooks, but fast actions work well too. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 I got me one jig rod Daiwa TD-V701MHRB Team Daiwa-V; Length: 7' 0 Line Class: 10-20 lb Lure Weight: ¼-1 oz; lots of backbone for moving bass out of cover quickly. Pay no atention to this guy. He knows nothin' bout jigs or big fish. If you missed his thread, here's proof: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1194434384 ;D ;D ;D 8-) Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 For anything in the 1/4-3/8 range I prefer the IMX843c. Over 3/8 I want the IMX844c or one of my old Fenwick HMGs. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Loomis BCR875C-GLX.Virtually all of my jig fishing is flipping/pitching. This rod is light, sensative, has good length at 7'3" and is strong like bull. I've been thinking about buying one of those or the 874. That 7'3" might be nicer then my 7'1" Right now my 3 rods are BCR855 weed, big jig fishing. BCR854 90% of all my jiggin BCR853 open water finessin Quote
TournyFish001 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Kistler mg MH 6'10" for my open water jigging 1/4oz to 1/2oz. THE most sensitive rod I own I have GLX's as well. Quote
Guest muddy Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I just found my jig rod. Bought it used from Cart 7 on flea market. 7 ft Med/extra fast the feel is more like MED HEAVY. I have a Pflueger Trion lp narrow spool on it 8-) Quote

Super User FishTank Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 I'd go for a G. Loomis BCR803 GLX. Sweet Quote
