Does anyone know any information on this reel? I just won one on eBay for $80 and it looks really great. This reel is the one two series before the newly introduced one. Cabela's recently closed out the FH series for the new FI, but this I think is from 2001 or so. Can anyone confirm this. It has a wooden handle knob instead of rubber, is white with gold accents, and is the 2000 size.

Any word on performance and how this 2000 size can compare to the 2500? I am sure this reel is not on par with the latest version but at half the price, figure I might have gotten a good deal! Thanks for any and all info.

I am not positve but I believe that the 2500 Stradic took the 2000 series place, the Stradic Fg's were from 2001 because because that was the reel I originally was going to get when I bought my Symtre.

Too bad you could've scored on of the Fh series reels I have seen them for as low $95.  However if the one you won is good shape it will last you awhile more. I would send to ReelMech for a good cleaning just to be on the safe side.

That's steal then, but I would steal have it cleaned and relubed. Sitting up could hve made the grease and oil get gumed up.

I have a couple of them.  I have been using them for the last 5 or 6 years with no trouble at all.  Shimano has changed the style and come up with the 2500 and now changed it again since I bought these reels.  I fully expect them to last me a lifetime.
