Super User roadwarrior Posted November 1, 2007 Super User Posted November 1, 2007 Man, the rods are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L, but what happen to the reels? The handles are on the wrong side! : Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 1, 2007 Super User Posted November 1, 2007 ;D ;D ;D Okay ;D ;D ;D Great looking rigs! 8-) Quote
twors Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Waiting for these rods to come in at BPS or Cabelas. Between these rods, a BCR803 Loomis or a new Cumura...its gonna be a hard decision on what to buy myself for xmas. Being that I bought 3 Avids in the last 6 weeks it only seems logical to stay with St.Croix. Quote
mike bat Posted November 1, 2007 Author Posted November 1, 2007 i orderd mine from st croix direct .... the website isnt updated yet but they are selling the new tourney bass rods ..... i believe the web site is www.stcroixrod.com Quote
Super User Maxximus Redneckus Posted November 1, 2007 Super User Posted November 1, 2007 Man, the rods are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L, but what happen to the reels? The handles are on the wrong side! : My thoughts also maybe its photo shopped bassackwards or just plain fake reels Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 1, 2007 Super User Posted November 1, 2007 Too Nice!!! I want one..... :'( BTW, Nice reels. They are the right species. Quote
Super User Raul Posted November 1, 2007 Super User Posted November 1, 2007 Very nice ! too bad them reels have the handle on the wrong side. :-/ Quote

HomersTomaco Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 yea they are sweet, the Bass Pro in NY has them. Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Those are sweet! And yes the handles are on the CORRECT side! ;D How much do the rods go for? Quote
The_Natural Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 They go from $200-$280 depending on model. You can find 2007's for $150...if you can live without the split cork. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted November 2, 2007 Super User Posted November 2, 2007 They do look great in person... However, I have no idea why St Crox made the cork grip under the real seat so short. It's not even an average hand's width... Quote
mike bat Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 hey chris ... i did notice the handel does seem a little short , but if you palm your reel the handel is almost perfect .... i do palm my reel so i have no trouble with the split cork ..... im still playin with these rods ... ive been pitching jigs down the hall way all night and casting senkos off the porch all day ... i will say the teaser(7ft-med-fast) rod loads perfectly when tossin a senko .... no effort casting ,,, i was useing a med hev avid for senkos ,,, no more i have my teaser for that .... the sweeper spinnerbait seems like a great stick also it 7ft medhev fast ,,, i have a avid with the same ratings the sweeper just seems liter ..... and i do need a reel for this rod that zillion is just too heavy .... ;D Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted November 2, 2007 Super User Posted November 2, 2007 Are the squirrels biting? Yeah, I see your point. Just knowing that not everyone palms the reel, and some people actually hold the rod there, it was puzzling that they didn't simply include another 3/4 to 1 inch of cork there to pretty much cover all their bases... The Zillion is too heavy? Nice... Quote
dbass Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 They do look great in person...However, I have no idea why St Crox made the cork grip under the real seat so short. It's not even an average hand's width... They are nice looking rods!!! Basically what they did is use fore grips. Take two of them, one is placed at the seat and, the other is split in half and a foam cap is added... I told everyone after the ICAST show that not all of the split grips on the new St.Croix® LE, and LTB rods wouldn't fit everyone.... The only way to get a fitted/balanced split grip is through custom builds..... 8-) Tight Lines All !!! Quote

I took an ergnomics class in college that said one should design for 95% of the population. You're not going to get everyone with one solution. However, I think this was a poor design solution. A longer grip can be used well by by those that palm the reel and those that grip the rod. Just sayin' Quote
michbass Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Looking nice. Have you had other split grip rods before? I cant seem to get use to the feel. Nice reels too. Quote
