rocknfish9001 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 Right now i have a setup that ive been pleased with. 6lb yo zuri hybrid on my spinning rod, and 10lb hybrid on the casting rod. Ive been content with it, but ive been looking to switch to braided line again. I used to use it religiously, but then i spooled up with vanish, which i didnt like, then berkley sensation, which was great, and finally hybrid, which was also a very good line. Im looking to respool the casting reel with 10lb braided line, preferably power pro, but do you guys have any other suggestions, possibly suffix? And i was thinking about trying either 5lb power pro or 6lb fireline with the spinning rod. I have never used fireline, and am hoping to hear some info on it, i understand its not a regular braided line, is that right? Quote
W1-10 Posted October 17, 2007 Posted October 17, 2007 I've not used the fireline either so I have nothing to offer there. I like, as well as a lot of others on the forum, the sufix braid. It's the best braid for the money IMO. modify- If you look a few posts down to the 'help on braid' post, some people cover the power pro vs. sufix argument. Quote

Super User dodgeguy Posted October 17, 2007 Super User Posted October 17, 2007 go with sufix.i would never use anything lighter than 12/50 on a casting reel.the thicker line helps prevent digging in. Quote

rocknfish9001 Posted October 18, 2007 Author Posted October 18, 2007 if im using 8 lb braid on a baitcaster, what kind of problems do you think ill have with the line digging into the spool? Quote
Super User T-rig Posted October 18, 2007 Super User Posted October 18, 2007 if im using 8 lb braid on a baitcaster, what kind of problems do you think ill have with the line digging into the spool? Thin braid is better suited for spinning reels. I would use at least 20lb. braid on a baitcaster. If the fish are line shy just use a FC leader. Quote
